Draco began to walk up to him, and the boy got this terrified glaze in his eyes at Draco's approaching figure. He would have rolled his eyes if he wasn't scared that he would run away at any sign of animosity.
"Can I help you?" Draco asked gently, stepping up to the boy who was scrambling to get away, even as his feet stayed glued shut to the floor. Draco was still trying to decipher if it was out of fear, or a deeper set part of the boy that didn't actually want to run away.
He tilted his head curiously at the Gryffindor-coloured robes.
"Hello, I'm sure you already know who I am, but I'm Draco. You are?"
The boy's eyebrows furrowed.
"E—Excuse me?"
Draco grew positive that he must have known him before the Memory Catastrophe, but he was at a loss of what to do, for he didn't actually remember anything about him.
"Sorry," Draco remarked with a small shake of his head to try and rid the area of its tension. "This must all be very confusing for you."
When he didn't elaborate on it, since Draco wasn't sure if he was just going to tell this supposed stranger that he had lost his memory roughly five and a half months ago, he sprouted an even more confused look that was borderline horrified. Draco didn't even want to think about what he could have done to make him so obviously scared of him, despite the colour of his robes which told the world he was a brave lion.
Who was this kid anyway?
"W—What's confusing?"
If this were anyone else, Draco might have raised an eyebrow and made some snarky comment about only being able to say a few word questions, but he fortunately bit his tongue in time.
But, before Draco was able to say anything further, the boy took a deep breath and straightened his shoulders as if preparing for an attack. His voice had gotten eerily steady as he spoke, a stark contrast to what it was before.
So this is where the red and yellow comes in.
"I saw you walking with Luna. And eating in the Great Hall with her."
There wasn't a question in what he said, but the sceptical tone rang through his words all the same.
Draco sighed.
Must more people know about the embarrassing fate of one Draco Malfoy? Telling so many went against what he had wanted when he had first woken up, something he thought about daily. It was interesting to him how much different of a contrast there was to what he had thought of himself at the beginning.
Wasn't one of the things he had prided himself on being 'an absolute gentleman at heart?' What a laughable phrase that was, now that he knew past him had been quite the opposite of that.
The boy began again as Draco pondered this strange turn of events. "You two have been friends for a while now, and it's impossible not to notice that something is different about you, Malfoy."
He said this all quite quickly, like if he didn't shove out the words from his mouth now, then they would never leave. That, at least, Draco could understand.
I might as well tell him, he couldn't help but think. And if I'm lucky, he might actually believe me.
Draco took a deep, steadying breath. Then he paused.
How was he going to put this without sounding anything but psychotic? Not to mention he didn't even know this kid's name. Draco's mouth ended up just spouting the first thing that came to mind.
