You exited the car and exclaimed, "Dazai! Atsushi! You two go find somewhere to sit and I'll go get some snacks from the station's shop."
"Roger that, captain," Dazai giggled, placing a hand on his forehead before walking towards you and murmuring, "watch out though, danger could be anywhere." His eyes darted quickly in the direction of a nearby alleyway, and you could only nod in reply. Had he seen something there when he got out of the car?
"Alright, will do," you replied, before turning to Atsushi and adding, "please make sure he doesn't go on the train tracks. I've already had to get him up off of them three times in the past before."
"Yeah, I'll keep him a safe distance away from the tracks," he responded, "but you better stay safe too, alright?"
"Of course I will," you chuckled, messing up his hair, causing the weretiger to smile.
When you stopped, Atsushi began, "oh, uhm... I also wanted to ask you if you could do that more?"
"What? Messing up your hair?"
"Yeah, sure, and... like... the head pats and the hugs and stuff... you're a good hugger. It feels comforting when you do stuff like that," Atsushi admitted rather awkwardly. He meant it as a compliment, but he thought it came out weird.
"Well, thanks I guess," you laughed, going back to pat him lightly on the head again until you heard a loud voice in the distance.
"Atsushi! Get on over here!" Dazai shouted from a bench near the train tracks, "they did not think about accessibility when making these train tracks, I need help getting down so that I don't look too dirty when I die!"
"Welp... I'll go make sure he doesn't get himself killed," Atsushi muttered, beginning to run over to the bench Dazai sat at.
"See you later, Atsushi!" You shouted, waving your hand before turning to walk towards the alleyway Dazai had gestured to.
When you were close enough, you could hear the faint whispering of two mafiosi. "The boss only ordered us to protect Dazai," one muttered, "we weren't technically ordered to protect (Y/N) too."
You stood up against a wall, only turning the slightest bit so you could see who was talking. It was Gin and Higuchi, the deadly, silent assassin and her determined, extroverted superior.
Gin only shrugged her shoulders, not saying a single word.
"So why did Chuuya send a message asking if we knew where (Y/N) and Dazai were? We don't have to know where they are, right?"
The only response she got was another shrug.
"...Gin, do you ever consider speaking to other people?"Yet another shrug was the response to her question, until a few seconds afterward she suddenly widened her eyes and rushed towards your hiding spot.
"Shit!" You shouted as you saw her dagger come up right against your throat.
Higuchi quickly turned around and realized what was going on, her friendly stance turning into a menacing one. "So you're (Y/N)... how much did you hear?"
You dropped the idea of putting on an act quickly, and instead you asked, "why does the Port Mafia boss want to protect Dazai?"
"That's none of your concern," Higuchi answered quickly, getting out her own gun to point at you in case you started fighting back.
"Are you here to cause any trouble?" You inquired, glaring at Gin. Her grip felt quite light, which made it seem like she didn't want to hurt you. If that somehow really was the case, you could escape any second if you wanted to.
