Chapter 25: Team BRIR

Ivy's beautiful face was pale, as her mouth was fixed into a frown. Her clothes and armor had tears and cracks, from all the attacks that was able to pierce through her guard. Her cold green eyes were holding back tears, due to the pain she's currently experiencing. Out of the four huntresses, she was the most injured, and if not for her team creating a distraction to get her out, she would've been torn to shreds by the grimm horde. Her left arm was hanging limply by her side, swollen and bleeding, and even most of her ribs from the left side of her body were broken after getting blindsided by a King Taijitu, slamming her with it's tail. To make matters worse, an Alpha Beowolf was quick enough to swipe at her downed body. It was only thanks to a sudden adrenaline boost from the near death experience that she managed to evade, although it wasn't without a price, as a claw still managed to tear through her ankle, almost ripping off her left foot from her leg. Right now, the only things keeping her foot from being detached from her body was a bundle of bandage, a splint, and her left over aura to heal what it can fix. Although with the aura Ivy currently has, it would only be enough to stop the bleeding and attach a few muscle fibers.

Ivy despite wanting to cry from the pain, soldiered on as she knew that they would be found sooner or later. Not wanting to be too much of a burden for her team, she steeled herself and endured the excruciating pain that she's feeling right now and focused all of her senses into recovering as much as she can.

Bianca looked at her teammates and felt her heart breaking as she saw their current states. She steeled herself to at least by Roane and Ruda some time to carry Ivy away. As the leader, this is what she should do.

"I know that look, what ever your thinking, don't do it. We're a team, so it's a given that we'll stick together and get out of here alive, all of us." Roane's bloodshot eyes softened up a bit as she saw Bianca's appearance. She knew that their leader was blaming herself and was planning something stupid to make up for it. Even though she admired her leader, she can be dumb sometimes and it was up to her team to watch over her.

Ruda looked over as well, and said, "That's right Bianca, we'll get through this, all of us. Even if I have to drag Ivy all the way back to civilization."

Ivy snorted as she heard Ruda's statement, but was actually thankful as she could also tell from Bianca's look that she was planning to sacrifice herself. She didn't say anything as it was getting harder for her to breath, due to her broken ribs pushing into her lungs.

Bianca looked at her teammates and smiled, she was about to say something when the cave's entrance that they blocked up were hit by several attacks. The tremors becoming too much for the cave to endure. After a few more seconds the cave's entrance was destroyed and soon grimm of several kinds came pouring in.

Bianca, Roane, and Ruda, quickly moved over to where Ivy was, and formed a protective circle, knowing that their whip wielding comrade can't fight anymore. Soon, the grimm reached their location and a fierce fight ensued.

Ivy wanted to say that they just needed to run away and leave her behind. She can't even talk anymore, due to her broken ribs. She wanted her teammates to save themselves, as a cripple like her can't do anything anymore. Tears started to pour from her eyes as she saw Bianca, Roane, and Ruda fighting with everything that they have, just to protect her. She wanted to shout out that they didn't have to fight anymore and to just run away. But even so, she knew that they wouldn't listen and would die protecting her.

It didn't even take half a minute before Ruda's entire arm to be completely broken. Roane was even more bloody than before, and this time it was most of hers. Bianca was fighting up on the front of the two redheads, using her own body to tank several blows to protect her teammates, but it didn't take long before she was slammed back into Roane and Ruda.

It was then that Ivy, in a final act of desperation, stood up with all of her strength and used her whip to entangle all three of her teammates and sent them back several meters away from the grimm horde and her.

Ivy knew that she would die there and didn't even bother that her ankle got crushed due to her sudden movement.

Bianca, Roane, and Ruda, didn't even know how they got sent back, but when they saw Ivy facing off against the entire grimm horde, they knew that it was the end.

Despair painted their faces as the grimm charged towards Ivy.

Even though Ivy already accepted her death, she was extremely unwilling. She still wanted to continue on as a huntress to save many more lives, to end the corruption in Atlas, to at least see her teammates smile one more time.. to find love.

Ivy closed her eyes as she prepared to die, which caused her to not see the golden blur that suddenly tore through the grimm horde and reached her.

It took Ivy several seconds to open her eyes again, only after feeling a sudden warmth envelop her and hearing the sudden gasps of relief and shock of her teammates.

What she saw greatly shocked her, as tears of relief suddenly started pouring down her beautiful face. Unable to control herself, she leaned into the protective and warm embrace of the most handsome man she has ever saw.

Jaune looked at her eyes and softly smiled at her, he let out his aura to envelop Ivy, Bianca, Roane, and Ruda, to help them recover. Tightening his embrace on the tomboyish girl in his arms, he brandished [Caliburn] and softly said,

"It's fine now, you can rest, for I am here."
