I grunted as I started to remove the boxes one after the other, letting Kai begin to rummage through them. Guilt ripped at me at the thought of going through Soobin's personal belongings but it needed to be done.
I reached the last box, pulling it out while scrunching my face at its weight. I had never looked inside this box before, and curiosity filled me as I took knot of its pristine condition. Soobin had a bad habit of knot taking care of his things, yet there wasn't a blemish on the outside cardboard.
Taehyun and Kai were hovering over one of the boxes, frowning at whatever it contained in a shared look of disappointment.
"Did you find something?" I asked, nearly choking on my fear.
Kai smirked, looking at me in amusement, "Only your freak box." He said smugly, gesturing down to the lingerie that was hanging half-out.
I blushed, rushing towards the box and shutting it quickly. There were certain things that no one aside from Soobin and I were supposed to see in there.
Maybe this was a bad idea...
I cleared my throat, trying to rid myself of embarrassment, "Guys, I don't think we are going to find anything." I said timidly, looking around my boyfriend's room. All we were doing was creating a mess that we frankly did not have the time to clean up.
Beomgyu looked to the ground in defeat, kicking at one of Soobin's blankets, "But there has to be something." He said in tired defiance.
There had to be something, because if the was nothing, we were suspecting our best friend, and my boyfriend for nothing. If there was nothing, I don't think any of us would be able to live with ourselves.
"Let's look for a little longer." Taehyun said quickly, turning back to the boxes and opening the one containing Soobin's childhood toys, "At least just these boxes."
I hesitated, looking out the window. The moon was lighting the road, and casting shadows over the surrounding area. Soobin would be home soon. We needed to finish what we were doing with efficiency, otherwise we were as good as dead.
Dead...
I shivered, my whole body wracking in fear. I fell to my knees carefully, pulling the non-damaged box towards me. I opened it slowly, closing my eyes as everything went seemingly silent. I then opened them, gasping out.
"Guys..." I choked out, my heart dropping into my stomach.
The box was filled with random belongings, ones I had never seen Soobin with before. A repulsive smell permeated the air, and I cursed myself for knot smelling it sooner. It was a mixture of rust and rot. We had definitely found something, the red stains that covered the jacket on top told me just that.
Taehyun rushed to my side, followed closely behind by Beomgyu and Kai. We all stared down at the sight, eyes wide.
"This can't be what it looks like." I turned around abruptly, shaking my head intensely at my friends as I broke down into tears, "Soobin isn't a killer, he could never do something like this."
My friends just looked back at me, sympathy showing through the shock in their expressions. A single tear fell from Kai's eye as he buried his head in Taehyun's shoulder. Beomgyu tried to place a hand on my shoulder, but I shook him off, my heartbeat rising to the point I felt like I was going to pass out.
I turned back to the box, wiping my eyes as if it would be gone after I was done. But there it was, it's contents contaminating the air with malice.
I shook my head, "Could he?"
I knelt back down to the box, trying to knot wretch at the retched smell.
"We should go now. We have the evidence we need now." Beomgyu said, trying to lift me from the ground.
