Chapter 40

His tires spin on the dirt angrily as Optimus takes off, kicking some dirt in Bulkhead's face, the green bot covered Miko so she wouldn't be affected. The bots watch Optimus speed away before they bridge back to base. It was there, Ratchet could see the watch signal and he was glad it was working. He hoped she was okay.

As for Optimus, he was angry and scared for Saphira. He didn't know who had rammed Ratchet off the road, but he knew that the person was after her and not the autobots. He prayed to Primus that when he got to her that she would be alive. That is what he was hoping for. Yet, these was little time to waste.

"Maximum overdrive!"

Meanwhile with Saphira...

Saphira held onto the branch as it cracked and groaned under her weight. She had hoped it would hold up her weight, but the tree was so dry that it was slowly crumbling under her. The coyotes were still underneath her, they were growling and barking, they were eager to have her as their meal. Saphira hoped the tree could hold her up just long enough for Optimus to reach her. She saw now bridge, but that didn't mean that someone wasn't coming to her.

She yelped as the top branch snapped and she fell to the next one. It groaned loudly as she held onto it. She glanced down at the coyotes and looked around with wide, fear filled eyes. She didn't see anyone yet. She was silently praying for Optimus to reach her, she was feeling the stings and aches in her body now that she had stopped running. And all she wanted was to curl up on Optimus's chassis and sleep as long as she wanted.

She heard the rev of an engine approaching, the sound was loud enough to scare the coyotes away. At first she was happy, only to realize the engine was not Optimus. She realized the driver was driving her way again. She was about to jump down when the branch snapped again, causing her to slip and fall onto her back. She groaned as pain shot through her stomach from the impact, but she didn't lay there for long.

She scrambled to her feet and began to run again. She hoped that the driver would not find her, but that was quickly dashed as she saw the truck jump from a rock and land, only to turn and speed towards her. She ran as fast as she could, though by how the driver was driving, he was not going to be teasing her this time.

She skids and made a right by a tall, ragged rock and ran under an arch with walls either side of her. She knew it was not the best place, but she needed to change directions to slow the driver, even if it was just for a little bit. She could see the other end of this gap of the mountain. However, she shrieked and stopped, almost falling forward when she realized it was a ledge. And the drop on the other side, was higher than the fall Ratchet took.

She turned and gasped, the truck was turned towards her, the highs were on and she had to cover her eyes slightly with her hand. She panicked, there was no way to go. The truck began rolling forward slowly.

Saphira put out her hands in a feeble effort to stop the driver. "STOP! PLEASE! I beg you!" She pleaded at the driver. "I don't know you!! Please!"

There was no response from the driver, the truck just kept rolling forward slowly. She took an instinctive step back, gasping when she felt the edge on her foot. She wanted to step forward too but she couldn't. Saphira felt tears in her eyes, they blur her eyes a little as she watched this vehicle drive towards her slowly to push her off.

Where the frag are you Optimus?! Can't you detect the signal? Stupid Ratchet!

Saphira wanted go shout that through the com link of the watch, but she couldn't keep her eyes off the truck. It inched closer until the spikes of the bull bar began to push her. She tried grabbing onto it, only for it to suddenly rev and lurch forward, making her lose her grip and the ground underneath her gave way to her weight.
