Waves crash against the sandy shores; sea birds fly high above the deep blue sea and even they, cannot deny the beauty who runs among the waves.
The wind pushes her hair over her shoulders as she runs barefooted, kicking sand up in the process. Her white dress is long and blows elegantly in the wind. She sends a playful smile over her shoulder and blesses me with a soft smile.
I run after my rib, but my feet are too slow, my hand is stretched out in front of me ready to grasp hers. But the wind blows strong and pulls me back every time I become within inches of her.
"Just let me hold her!" I scream into the abyss but deep down know God is near as He always is.
"She's not ready..."
A harsh wind pushes me backwards, but I fight it every step and continue to run but Cheyenna runs far ahead almost out of view.
"She is ready!" Grunting I fight harder, but the wind seems to have a mind of it's own and fights back with the strength of one-hundred men.
"Oh? My child are your eyes blind to the evil that still taints her heart?"
The waves crash loudly against the shore and the once beautiful sky is being filled with dark shadows. Angered by the mere thought that He could assume my beloved was evil, I growl out, "She is innocent! Her hands have shed no blood and her lips have cursed no one."
The sand begins to leave the earth and fly up towards the sky causing a sandstorm of it's own. I use my arms to shield my face from the rough element and continue to fight my way through, but the wind is close by reminding me of it's power every time I near the light, my Cheyenna.
"Why do you think there is evil in her heart? For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?"
"You're not making sense!" He truly never makes sense yet He always speaks as if He knows I will one day understand him. He never explains and always knows the future will for Him.
"But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins' then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house,' And he arose and departed to his house..."
His words fade as the world around me does, nevertheless I lift my eyes to be filled with my beloved, there she stands just outside of the storm. Looking in with confusion as if she too does not understand what is happening. But I'm forced to watch in sadness as her eyes land on me, she smiles but does not mutter a single word, instead she turns and runs towards the light.
And once again the light steals my heart...
My innocent Cheyenna why do you run?
