A choice that matters (Kris x Reader)

~Meanwhile~

Kris's POV.

My eyes fluttered open and I found myself looking at a dark ceiling with several cracks running along it. I glanced to my right and saw Ralsei sitting next to me, being curled up in a ball and his gaze fixed on the ground in front of him with a sad expression on his face. I suppose he felt me looking at him because his head snapped in my direction and his eyes sparkled with relief. "Kris! Oh thank the heavens your awake! Are you feeling better? I'm sorry I used my pacify spell on you, I didn't--" Before he could ramble on I put a hand in his shoulder and sat up with a groan. "It's fine Ralsei... I'm much better now... Thank you..." I mumbled, running a hand through my hair.

It was quiet for a moment. Neither of us knew what to say. 'What should I say right now? I probably scared him half to death. And there are still no news from Susie and (Y/n).' It pained me to even think about it but I tried to push my worry in the back of my mind, since I didn't want to lose it again.

"I'm sorry..." I whispered but I knew that Ralsei heard it. "Y-You're sorry?... For what?"

"For what you had to see back there. I know it must have terrified you... Even I was terrified of myself. I was just so angry, I.... I don't know what came over me... And it doesn't matter now... I have to be in control my emotions... And I am now..." I felt Ralsei keep his eyes on me. I was about to get up and try opening the cell door again or something when he started speaking again. "You know, Kris. I know what you are trying to do... with (Y/n)..." I stiffened in my sitting position, trying to look confused. "What are you--" He cut me off. "I told you before, I'm not completely oblivious. (Y/n) is my best friend. Before I met her I had no one. I care about her so much and know you do too, but... the way you care about her is very different than how I care about her." I decided not to say anything for now and just listen to him.

"I can understand that... if you've been alone for a long time, you're scared to let people in your life again. I know how that feels... You're scared to lose her and of how much it's going to hurt you if you do, so you decided to try and distance yourself. But that's not the way to go, Kris." I looked to the ground in slight shame. 'Was it really so easy to see through me?'

"B-But... Susie and I will... (Y/n)... she--" Ralsei cut me off again. "--cares so much about you! I'm sure she feels the same way you do. The fact that you're so afraid to lose her only proves how deep your feelings go! Please... don't do this to yourself, Kris... allow yourself to be happy... You and (Y/n) certainly deserve it... Don't just let her go... If you love someone... cherish it!" I could feel small tears welling up in my eyes and I raised a hand to whipe them away as a quiet sob escaped me.

"O-Oh gosh! W-Was that too much? I-I'm sorry! I-I just, you know, wanted you to feel better and I-I started rambling again and... ugh... I'm sorry." Ralsei covered his face with his hands in embarrassement and my crying moved into quiet chuckling. He peaked between his fingers to see what I was laughing about. Whiping away the last few tears, I gave him a small smile before pulling him into a hug. I was instantly calm again, because it reminded me of hugging my brother Asriel. "K-Kris?"

"Thank you, buddy... I needed to hear this..." He relaxed and hugged me back. We stayed like that for a while until we finally let go of each other, sharing a peaceful moment of silence as we waited for Susie to come find us. "Hey Ralsei..." He hummed, telling me he was listening. "Do you think you have enough energy to... heal (Y/n) after you put me to sleep earlier?"

"Huh? Oh yeah! You were out for like, half an hour and I did my best to stay calm, so my magic should be enough to get her fixed up" I nodded. "Good..." I completely trusted his judgment

~After a few more minutes~

All of a sudden, the cell door was burst open and Susie strolled in, startling the two of us. "... hey. Brought a package for delivery..." She shrugged. Me and Ralsei immediately stood up and went over to them, me kind of completely ignoring Susie and going straight to the sleeping beauty on her back. "Susie! You came to save us...! I knew you had the heart of a hero!" Ralsei exclaimed and Susie scoffed. "Yeah, yeah, don't push your luck." She said as she kneeled down and surprisingly gently layed (Y/n) down on the ground.
