Hidden Spark on Earth (TFP)

Chapter 50

She soon heard seatbelts behind her clicking. She frowned and looked back to see seatbelts across the bags in the back, and she wondered why. She looked up and glanced at the sideview, only to realize why. She tensed as she saw the large, rusty, Dodge RAM behind them, and it was speeding towards them angrily.

"I was hoping you would not notice straight away," Optimus said in an irritated tone. "Ronan seems to be intent on ruining this tribute for you. I think it is time we put an end to this, once and for all." Saphira did not know what Optimus meant, but she didn't know if she liked it or not.

She didn't want blood spilled near her mother's death anniversary, even though Ronan was out for her own blood. The music was cut off and Optimus sped up as Ronan drove the car close. Optimus knew he had to take drastic measures if he was going to keep Saphira safe. He speeds along the road, making a few turns to get Ronan was far from the town as he could.

When they were far enough, Optimus turned off the road, driving down a rocky slope and Ronan followed, the car flying slightly before landing roughly behind them. Optimus was not going to let this man get close enough to hurt Saphira, or even close enough to ram him. He drove towards large rocky formations that lead into a labyrinth, a perfect place to deal with Ronan.

Saphira held onto the seat tightly, she was extremely nervous at the moment, but she had confidence in Optimus. She tried not to glance at the sideview, but it was very hard. Each time she did, she would see the RAM behind them. She couldn't see the driver or passenger due to the tinted windows, but she could almost see her father and her stepmother through that window. She shuddered and she shakes her head, sad that this was happening on the eve of her mother's death.

Optimus swerved suddenly as he turned into a gap, with cliff faces either side he was attempting to get Ronan as deep as he could in here. He made another turn, Saphira groaned as the lurch of the cab made her grimace at the feeling. It was worse than how Optimus drove when MECH was chasing them for the Dingus. She didn't try to stop him though, she knew Optimus intended to end this completely.

As Optimus continued, Saphira soon noticed the RAM was not behind them. She watched quietly before frowning. "Uh...I think Ronan has backed off," She said in a shaky voice. "I-I can't see the truck in the sideview mirror." She glanced at the other one, and she couldn't see the truck either. "Where did he go?"

Optimus turned into another space that had a second exit into an open plain and came to a stop. He listened for any echo of an engine. He could not hear any, however...he did not believe Ronan just disappeared. He was still near, Optimus knew it. A coward like him was likely trying to bait them out, and Optimus was not fooling for it.

"I will advise you to get out, Saphira," Optimus said gently, making Saphira jump. "He will come here eventually. I will take care of him. You need to find somewhere to hide, I do not doubt he will try to go after you and avoid me completely."

Saphira was not so sure. Seeing Optimus willing to kill was not something she was used to, but she also could sense his anger. "Okay..." She glanced at the items in the back seat for a moment. "Just make sure none of those get ruined, please."

"I will keep them safe, Saphira. You need to get yourself hidden and safe." Optimus opened the door for her to get out. She hesitated for a moment before climbing out and jumping onto the ground. "This will be all over soon."

Saphira said nothing as she walked around, looking for somewhere to hide. She did not want to be very far away from Optimus, but she would flee if it was the best option. But, as she walked around, she grimaced as there was a horrid smell. She gagged a little and covered her nose, it was awful. However, she heard the sound of flies and saw a pit. She stepped closer to it and looked down, she gasped loudly and turned to run away as what she saw terrified her.
