Optimus smiled, he was glad she knew that her father and stepmother were gone. He didn't want to tell her that he killed them, but Saphira already guessed that he had. And he was right to do so. Optimus wasn't going to forget seeing Saphira that way. He hoped for nothing bad like this to happen to her again.
When they saw Saphira had fallen asleep again, Optimus moved his hand away and exhaled sadly, he was tired. He has not had a proper recharge since he brought Saphira back. "At least we can be confident she will no longer be severely hurt by her former family."
Ratchet nodded in agreement and scanned Saphira's body to check her healing progress. "I can only hope that Mech will not find out about our human friends and try to use them as leverage against us. It's one thing to have a decepticon as a threat, it's another when there are humans who are as vile as they are."
Optimus nodded in agreement. He looked at Ratchet curiously. "When do you think she can walk around, Ratchet?"
Ratchet finished scanning her body and walked over to a console to bring up an image of her body. "So far, her lung has healed very quickly. The surgical incision might take another week to heal before she can be allowed to even sit up properly. But, her shoulder will be healed quickly as it isn't broken, and the injuries to her back are already fading. Her body seems to heal remarkably quickly."
"I did read young humans tend to have better immune systems to older humans, and their bodies can repair itself a lot quicker," Optimus said thoughtfully. "That could be that."
"Maybe...or perhaps there is another reason." Ratchet turned to look at him, Optimus's optics were wide with surprise. "When she sleeps with you, she lays right above your spark, right?" He nodded. "I have a suspicion that perhaps the aura of either your spark or even the Matrix could be in her system. As you know, both energy sources are organic, and while you are not sparkmates yet, it would seem your body has already begun the process."
Optimus was shocked to hear that. "I...I hope you are not kicking my tailgate, Ratchet. That isn't funny."
"I'm not joking, Optimus. When I scanned her after you brought her to me, I picked up a small spark signature in her system." Ratchet looked at the screen and brought up a different screen to show Optimus, he stepped forward to see it himself. "I was shocked to see it myself, Optimus. Whether it was intentional or not, there is already a bond forming slowly even before the actual process. When Saphira is strong enough, I am going to suggest, and I can't believe these words are going to come out of my mouth, her being with you heals her faster."
"You want me to put her on my chassis so she heals quicker?" Optimus asked as a smile formed on his face. Ratchet nodded and exhaled with a frown on his face. Optimus couldn't believe it. He pondered if her wanting to be his sparkmate somehow activated the process unintentionally. "I will do whatever it takes to make her well again, Ratchet. This makes my spark sing to know I can make her healing process faster and less painful."
Ratchet smiled and pats his shoulder gently. "Be sure to keep this between us. I may move Saphira closer as her being on the platform is about the same height as your chassis." He turned away to keep doing some work. "You should inform the others that Saphira has regained consciousness, but she won't be seeing visitors just yet. I will ask her the next time she wakes if she wants company of anyone besides us."
Optimus looked at Saphira and smiled. He was extremely happy that he could be a key component in helping Saphira to heal. He didn't quite understand how they already have a minor connection, but since they were the first human and autobot to have a relationship, these things were just part of the learning process. He lowered his head very carefully, making sure to not knock anything over, and planted a light kiss on her forehead.
