chapter 2 where is she?!

"I can. Come with me." Esme answered, pulling him aside.

"So, you're friends with Kiara?" Billy asks, protective as Jacob left to get a drink.

"Yes. We've been friends with her since she moved here." Rosalie answered calmly.

"Well, then I suppose you know her story, and she knows about you?" Billy asks.

"Yes, sir. It's a little complicated, but I can give you the short version." Alice answers, Billy nods. "You see, our kind have what humans would call 'soulmates' or just 'mates'. All of us have a mate, besides Edward. And Kiara is Jeremy's." Billy's eyes widen.

"So, that's why she knows? You brought her into this world, for what?" Billy asks, curious but protective.

"I mean her no harm, Mr. Black. The bond I feel for Kiara would hurt me if she was hurt, and as if I would hurt her. I'd rather die than let anything happen to her. I'm sure you have your own feelings, but I think that is one thing to two of us have in common." Jeremy answered.

"And what's that?" Billy asks, smiling.

"We would do whatever it takes to protect those we love." Jeremy answered.

"You're a quite correct, son. Our kind have 'imprints'. It's similar to the way baby animals imprint on their mothers when they are born, but for us, it's like fate bringing two people together. We become anything they need. A friend, a brother/sister, a lover or a protector. And I guess there is one thing we do have in common." Billy says.

"What's that?" Jeremy asks.

"That a lot of people care about Kiara." Billy answers, Jeremy nods.

"I know our kinds are supposed to be enemies. But do you think for Kiara, we can come to a few compromises? Nothing in detail yet, but I can have Carlisle call you so we can talk." Alice suggests.

"I'll think about it." Billy replied.

"Here, Dad." Jacob said walking up to Billy with a cup of coffee. "Have they said anything yet?"

"Not yet, son." Billy answers.

"I hope she's okay. I can't believe that someone attacked her." Jacob said, worried.

"Oh, I'm sure she is in good hands." Billy replied, before taking a sip of the coffee.

Not long after, Dr. Cullen walked into the waiting room and saw his family, Charlie and the Black's. He told them that she should be waking up in recovery soon, and what her injuries were. Let's just say, Chief Swan was beyond pissed, and would definitely make an arrest.

~Kiara's POV~

I felt numb. That is all I could feel. I hear the faint sound of a rhythmic beeping. Slowly opening my eyes, I see that I was in the hospital. Moaning, I tried to raise my arm, but it stung. I must have a needle in it.

"Kiara. Kiara, can you hear me?" I blink my eyes, my vision focuses to see Carlisle standing next to me. I nod my head slowly.

"What happened?" I ask, my voice soft and hoarse.

"You don't remember?" He asks.

"I... I was dropped off at home after studying with Rosalie and Alice. It was late, dark, but I was home. I was about to go to my room to sleep when I saw the backdoor was open. But before I could check, I was grabbed from behind. I tried to fight the guy off, but he was more built than me. I tried to grab a knife to scare him, and it did. But when he lunged at me, I lost my grip on the knife and it fell to my stomach. He then grabbed it and sliced my leg. I don't know what happened next, but when I saw that he was gone I tried to find my phone and call for help. But I couldn't find my phone. I started feeling lightheaded, and I couldn't move." I explained to the best of my ability, but I felt like I was going to cry. "I-I, I thought I was gonna die."
