"What?" I sighed and wished Clara was able to do this instead, but I understand that this is hard for her, and she can't mentally withstand it at the moment.
"Could you try to be a little nicer to someone? And for two, could you please not run off and do your own thing. Me and you both know how you are." She squinted her eyes at me before rolling her eyes.
"Whatever." She exhaled sharply, and I huffed in annoyance. Today is going to be wonderful.
I quickly shoved Ezra behind a trash can when I heard gun shots go off. We both pulled out our weapons, and looked at each other in agreement before lifting our bodies from behind the trash can, and shooting at every moving object.
"GET DOWN!" We heard the other side yell, and Ezra quickly ran closer to them, ducking behind a wall in the alley. The darkness of the alley made it hard to see the enemy, but luckily me and Ezra were trained for this.
"TO YOUR LEFT!" Ezra yelled out towards me, and I quickly turned, and pointed my gun at my target, not even thinking when I pressed down on the trigger.
I rolled across the ground, and I ended up against the wall across from Ezra's. We looked at each other and smiled before shooting three people between both of us in a matter of two seconds. She giggled, and I looked at her like she was crazy when I noticed that the coast was clear, for now anyway.
"What's so funny?" She just kept laughing, and I sighed while grabbing some of the ammo from outside of the enemy's gun while I waited for her to finish.
"I don't know. I just feel like going insane!" She yelled out and I walked up to her, holding her face in my hand while she cried.
"Clara?" She nodded her head and exhaled softly while placing my forehead against her own.
"I'm so sorry. I- I just need a minute." I knew that Ezra took a toll on her, especially because that's the side of her she's been wanting to hide for a very long time... her sadistic and twisted side. She never wanted to accept Ezra, but she did it because she knew only she could handle it.
That's the whole reason why she had a different name... because she was a different person. Clara was so soft and sweet, and even though she may bite back from time to time... she still knew how to love and that is all I'll ever ask of her.
"You're okay. Take your time, princess. I'll be here, waiting." She nodded her head against my own, and we just stayed like that for god knows how long; just holding each other.
"Do you think we will get him?" Her soft voice fluttered through the air, and I sighed softly against her hair. I lifted my head far enough for it to sit on the top of her head. I held her closer to me while rubbing her back, she whimpered against me, and tightened her grip on my shirt.
"I don't know, princess. I'm praying we do." She was silent, and I already knew what was flowing through her mind.
"I'll do everything in my power to bring him down, baby. Don't worry." I kissed her forehead, and I let her go while nodding my head towards the direction we needed to go to, smiling. She looked in that direction before nodding her head in acceptance. She took my hand in her own, and I knew then and there... we would be okay.
As we breached the alleyway I heard someone coming down the left side of the alley, and I pulled Clara down to hide behind yet another dumpster, and I feel like we just keep having the same problem every ten seconds.
