Chapter 82

There was silence in the room, Optimus had given the autobots the choice of whether they will proceed with Optimus or not. And it would be okay if they remained behind. Saphira could see on their faces they were processing the offer, and Saphira did not believe they would simply allow Optimus to face this alone.

"Well...I don't know about humankind," Bulkhead began with a slight shrug on his shoulders. He glanced to Miko with a smile. "But I'm willing to do it for Miko."

Arcee nodded in agreement. "For Jack.

Bee looked at Raf with a determined expression. "For Rafael."

"For Saphira..." Saphira turned her head to Ratchet who was smiling at her. "Even though I am unable to go with you, Optimus. I would still put my life on the line for Saphira. I definitely have grown to like the idea of being her parental figure, and I have definitely started to see her...well...kind of like a daughter..."

Saphira felt tears in her eyes as she heard Ratchet say that to her. "Aw..." She wipes a tear from her eye and she felt the need to hug Ratchet. "That is so nice!" Optimus smiled at her, lifting his hand to his shoulder so she could slip into his palm and he gently moved her to Ratchet's hand. The medic took her and hugged her. Saphira looked up at him with a smile. "Even though you can be grumpy...I definitely will say, you're the best father a girl could ask for."

Ratchet grinned at her words and kissed her forehead. "I try to be." He intakes heavily and turned towards the other humans. "I think we should invite our guest in. You five should hide until Megatron leaves. It is best that he does not see you."

"What?!" Miko exclaimed before placing her hands on her hips. "No fair! I want to stay!"

"Miko, there is no room for arguing," Ratchet said to her with a frown, moving Saphira to the platform and gestured for her to head to the next level. Saphira nodded and made her way to the stairs. "It is for your own safety!"

Jack grabbed Miko's wrist and pulled her towards the stairs as June, Fowler and Raf walked towards it. "Come on, Miko. He is right. Megatron's not exactly the nicest con out there."

"Of course not! But I'm not afraid of him!" Miko argued, struggling against Jack's grip as she was pulled to follow him down the stairs.

"It doesn't matter, Miko!" Jack snapped at the girl impatiently. "Come on!"

The girl struggled against his grip, Saphira couldn't help but shake her head. Miko will never change, it would seem. The girl loved putting herself in danger, even when advised she had to go and hide for her own sake. Saphira will never understand Miko.

Miko managed to get out of Jack's grip and turned to run, only for Ratchet to stop her and push her towards the tunnel. "Ugh! No fair, I've never seen him! Why do we have to hide?!"

"Because I said so!" Ratchet snapped back at the girl.

Miko clenched her fists and stomped away from Ratchet, unhappy about her situation. Saphira leaned on the railing from the above walkway, watching Bulkhead prepare the ground bridge. Optimus glanced up at her and gave her a confident nod that she would be okay, she nodded back, but she still couldn't shake the dreadful feeling.

"Megatron, we are sending transport," Optimus said to the silver mech through the com link.

"You can always be relied upon to listen to reason, Optimus," Came the amused response from the decepticon.

The ground bridge is activated, and they could only wait for Megatron to walk, or fly through. Saphira clenched her hands around the railing, staring at the vortex with fearful eyes as she knew she was going to see Megatron again. Optimus stood before the vortex, waiting for the mech to arrive, his body was tense as he waited. This was not a situation they wanted to be in, and there was no choice either.
