We could hear another explosion. They could bury this whole place, yet it doesn't seem to bother them. -"Over here." Y/N called to me, we found ourselves infront of big gate, behind it, we could see an acient town. -"I don't think we can open this." I said, looking at the massive gate. -"So? We climb it." She replied. I took a good look at the gate. -"Hmm, the carvings could help us up, hinges look strong enough too but I don't know if-" While I was examining the door Y/N already began climbing them. -"Less talking, more climbing, Croft." She said, steadily climbing up. -"I was about to say that we don't know if there is a way to climb back down on the other side." I told her. -"Well, we'll find out soon enough, won't we?" She said and I saw her foot slip, none of us managed to say anything as she placed it back and kept on climbing. -"Okay, what the hell." I accepted my fate with this girl and began climbing also. I caught up to her at the top and we kind of sat on it, looking for a way down.
-"I told you so." I turned to Y/N when we didn't see a way down. She only chuckled. -"See you on the other side." She said and jumped down from the gate. This height could kill her. So naturally, I got scared. -"Y/N!" I yelled as she jumped. I saw her hit the snow below. Nothing moved for a moment, even I seemed to forgot to breathe. -"I'm okay!" She emmerged from the snow. -"Fuck! You almost gave me a heart attack!" I yelled at her. -"Jump down! The snow will soften your fall!" She yelled from below. -"Are you crazy?! I could die!" I replied, once again looking at the long way down. -"Seriously, Lara? I'm a proof that you won't die!" Y/N insisted. I know I've done much craizier stuff before. But it was almost always because I had no other choice. Now I can-
My thoughts got interupted by yet another explosion. -"Clock's ticking! Come on!" Y/N encouraged me. -"Fuck it!" I said and jumped down into the snow. The fall was way longer than I expected but the I hit the snow at great speed. Weirdly enough, I was okay. I felt a hand on my arm and after a few seconds I was out of the snow. -"Nice to see you down here, Croft." Y/N bowed jokingly. -"Pleasure's all mine Hartvigsen." I replied, gesturing a kiss at the palm of her hand. She removed her hand immidietly after. -"Let's go. No time to waste." She turned towards the village we found ourselves in. It was magnificent. Frozen in time but still stable. All of the buildings were so big compared to us. Well, couldn't expect anything else in the lands of giants.
-"I'm guessing we have to get over there." I pointed out at a large hall looking over the whole village. -"Yeah, problem is. We don't know how to get there." She replied. -"We follow the Path of Kings." I told her. -"Right, the Path." She nodded while looking down at her feet. -"Hey, keep it together. We're almost there." I layed my hand at her shoulder. She put her hand on top of mine. -"I know. That's exactly what scares me." She said and began walking forward.
It wasn't long until we arrived at the first door. Big wooden door unsurprisingly. They were frozen and impossible to open. -"See any way around?" I asked Y/N when we failed to open the door. -"Hmm.....looking." She replied but I could see that she's just as lost as I am. -"Hey, what about that?" I pointed at a wall nearby, looked stable enough. -"I don't have the gear for that." She replied. -"I'll give you one of my axes. I've seen you use it before." I told her, already handing her the axe. -"Wow, the legendary climbing axe. I'm honored to use it." She said. -"Yeah, yeah. Don't get used to it." I replied, going to the wall.
-"You need a boost?" I turned back to her. -"You just want to get a good view." She smirked back at me. -"I'm not! I-I just wanted to- Forget it!" I said and started climbing up myself. I heard her chuckle to herself. I slammed my axe into the wall to get higher but arrived at some sort of hole. It was too big to jump over or reach above it. -"What now?" Y/N caught up to me, breathing heavily. -"I can give you a boost here." I told her. -"Here? You mean, while we're climbing?" She asked me confused. -"Just give me your hand and boost yourself up from my knee." I explained to her. -"You sure you can hold on?" She asked, looking down. We were already pretty high up. -"Yeah, don't worry, just give me your hand. Trust me." I told her and extended my hand out to her. She took a deep breath, looking down again. -"Don't look there. Look at me. I won't drop you." I told her, looking her in the eyes.
-"Fuck....Okay, okay." She tried to calm herself down. Then finally she grabbed my hand. -"3....2....1!" I made the countdown and then helped her jump up. She grunted as her climbing axe hit the wall above us. Took her a few seconds to get some grip but after a while she did. She looked down at me. -"I did it! Fuck yeah!" She cheered. -"Good job! Now, do you think you could hold me with one hand?" I asked her. -"You mean, while I'm holding myself on the axe?" She asked. -"Yeah." I nodded. -"Okay.....Let's try it." She agreed.
I made her know I'm about to jump once I was sure she's ready. When I did it almost looke like I'm not gonna make it. But then I felt her hand in mine. Both of us grunted while we tried to get me to the wall. And with a little swing I was finally able to slam my axe next to her and pull myself up. We haven't talked as we focused on getting to the top. After a few minutes we got there. I was there first and so I helped her up. We were heavily breathing as we looked on the other side of the wall. There was courtyard of some sort there. And in the middle, something that looked like a puzzle.
I turned to Y/N when I saw it. And it clearly told me that she's ready. She was smiling back at me...
