Lately, with all the pressure she's received because of her job, her facade cracks, and Jennie is reminded that her beloved is only human. It also boils down to the point that
"That's valid, we don't know what's going to happen," Jennie brushes off some imaginary specks of dirt from Lisa's suit, hands slowly reaching up to her shoulders and gently applying pressure where she knows it would feel good. "We can only hope for the best, love. But I know you've done all you can you've done your best to make this thing a success. Remember all those exhibits before?" She asks the other. Lisa nods, and Jennie grins as she smooshes Lisa's cheeks until her lips are pouting. "They've all been successful so far, haven't they?"
"Yeah, but, what if this one isn't?" Lisa struggles to speak. Jennie frowns a bit before she lets go of Lisa's cheeks and flicks her chin.
"But what if this one is?"
"But, what if it isn't ?"
Jennie hums. Throws her arms around Lisa's shoulders and pecks her once, twice; the third time she does, she lets her lips linger longer, swiping her tongue across Lisa's lips before she pulls away. Sees the way Lisa's eyes flutter open, hooded. "Then you move on. Assess why it didn't work. Take notes of what went wrong and how it could be better next time. Right?"
"Hm,"
"You're allowed to make mistakes, aren't you? You're human the last time I checked," Jennie teases, a small grin playing on her lips. Loves the idea that how minutely she had successfully distracted Lisa from the anxiety of it all, even temporarily.
"I think I might be the luckiest human alive then," Lisa starts, hands gripping Jennie's waist in retaliation.
"And why is that?"
"Because I'm in the presence of an angel."
The laughter that comes out of Jennie's mouth is boisterous, and she playfully slaps Lisa on the chest before they sway like reeds from side to side. "Dumbass,"
Lisa presses her lips against Jennie, kissing her as she means it. "You're marrying this dumbass,"
"Mhm. I am. Bet it's not too late to back out, hm?" She teases.
Lisa snorts and retaliates with a loud Oh no you don't! before she pushes Jennie onto the bed, both of them giggling at the silliness of it all. "You're locked for life, baby. You can't back out anymore, from the day you said yes," Lisa nips on her bottom lip, licking into her mouth as they exchange satisfied sighs and sweet touches. "You're mine forever."
Jennie brushes her fingers through Lisa's tresses, and she smiles at her lover's cheesy declaration as their lips meet, teeth knocking each other's. "We aren't even married yet," she mutters jokingly, albeit it being half-meant. It's been a year and a half since they got engaged and their engagement shouldn't be this long-but a lot of things just went in the way.
They talked about this plenty of times. Jennie was-is very excited to plan the details of their wedding, and Lisa is whipped enough to let her do it. They've agreed to have an intimate one, just with family and close friends to witness an important milestone in their life.
But seemingly, fate has other plans because opportunities kept coming for both Jennie and Lisa. Promotions were fast for Lisa what with her experience and passion for teaching, all her hard work had paid off. Jennie also liked teaching she never imagined it before, but she thinks she's also good at what she does now. Being one is no easy feat and she's glad that both of them understand their line of work with the heavy load and hours they spend doing presentations and continuously learning, grading papers, and what not they had just unconsciously pushed off their plans.
