Chapter 35 - Atiniir

Start from the beginning

" –so in that sense there's no worries. Ah! (Y/N)! I'm glad you could make it."

Standing with Anakin to my left and the other in a half moon to my right I smiled,

"Sorry it took a while, had mechanical reports to go over."

"Understandable. Well, now that you're here I want you to meet the new additions to our battalion, Jockey and Rarad."

They both had the jet black hair colour still, Rarad with the standard trooper cut and Jockey with shorter on the sides and longer in the middle swooped back. As Jockey was clean from any tattoos on the face or other modifications, Rarad had two lip piercings next to each other with small silver rings.

"Nice to meet you, sir. If I'm not mistaken, you're the chief mechanic for the 501st, right?"

Rarad's voice was very laid back compared to the standard stoic voice of the troopers, along with his demeanour.

"That's correct. It's nice to meet you too, boys. So, are you regular gunners or you got something else going on?"

Jockey smirked and dragged a hand through his hair, causing a hair strand to fall down and rest right above his eyebrow as he answered,

"I'm in the sniper division and Rarad's in explosives."

I hummed in acknowledgement before crossing my arms,

"Well, don't got much more for the moment as I guessed that your General has briefed you on pretty much everything so all I got left is; welcome to the 501st, boys."

They beamed a smile at me and Rarad even winked at me,

"It's a pleasure, ma'm."

A wink that definitely caught the eye of their Captain that balled his fist up, leather slightly creaking.

"Trooper! I hope I don't need to remind you of the rules of your position within the GAR, or do I?"

A tingling feeling caught me by surprise and I couldn't help smiling at Rex. He was staring down Rarad that blinked between him and me before shaking his head, shame painting the tips of his ears pink,

"N-no, sir. I know what my position holds."

"Good. Now get going, we got group training in thirty minutes."

"Sir, yes sir!"

They saluted him and walked out from the bridge. In the meantime, Anakin had found something on his datapad very interesting until the door swished closed. Looking up he just glanced at Rex who's eyes had followed them out, before giving me a look.

"Oh, you're one to talk, Skyguy."

Eyes warning me he pointed a finger at me whilst whisper yelling,

"Hey! That's none of your business."

"Exactly, so drop it."

He grumbled at me before taking a deep breath to not smack my arm or something similar. Now when he had let the subject go, knowing that he wasn't going to win, he spoke much calmer, more sincere,

"How are you holding up?"

After my meeting with the Jedi council, Anakin had been called in quite frequently to discuss the proceedings with the revelation of Darth Maul. And also that Anakin had felt something else when he had arrived on the scene that he felt was worth bringing up. I didn't blame him for not being able to check up on me, I felt sorry for him. I knew his conflicted feelings towards the council and their way of operating. He didn't agree with them, especially not now during the war. So now, when he had the time to be away from it all and be himself, do things his way, he asked the one thing I did not want to hear. It was always worse to grieve when people kept asking you how you are. The question always stirred up the emotions you had just tamed.
