Minutes had passed and the beast was only getting closer as my legs were starting to give out. Entirely out of breath, I managed to keep going until a root just too tall for me to throw my leg over got caught on my foot. I yelped in surprise and scrambled to get back up but my foot was jammed where it was.
It charged up on me in seconds and raised its giant sword to put an end to me, "Help! Somebody help me!" Tears finally began running down my dusty cheeks as I braced for impact but, none came.
My eyes shot open to the sound of metals colliding. Before me, a young Hylian had somehow managed to block the lynels fatal attack. My mouth was agape at the sight and when I blinked, the beast collapsed on the ground. I fought to say something but my mind couldn't pull itself together.
As I sputtered to get anything out of my mouth, the stranger began inspecting my wounds. He was silent and calm. I glanced at myself as well to see one of my legs had a large gash and the other was beginning to bruise horribly. The rest were just small cuts that would be gone in a few days.
The man did his best to wrap the wounds with what he had and by that point, I could finally begin to think clearly- though, I was beginning to hurt, "H-how did you..." My voice shook greatly. It was hard to see much of him in the dark but I could barely make out some of his features. His hair was tied back and he had a small, blue hoop earring in both ears.
"We need to get you to the stable. It's not far." The man finally spoke. I nodded and he helped me up. I stumbled as the adrenalines effect on me began wearing off some more and cried in pain. Both of my legs were in unimaginable pain but the bruising one made it physically impossible to put any weight on it. It was as if a fire was making its way through the bruise and up my leg. Tears continued to roll down my face as we slowly made our way back toward the stable.
Without warning, the man whistled before waiting in silence and soon after, the very faint sound of a horse's neigh followed by the clomping of heavy hooves on the damp ground could be heard. It quickly found us and the man helped me up before hopping on himself. As I could finally hear the sound of the stable in the distance, the sun had begun to rise and more of the shock was dissipating. The man I could now see had dirty blond hair. He had a type of Snowquill set on, a set of armor only available in Rito Village.
"I never got your name." I nudged him with my arm to grab his attention. He said nothing for a while but ultimately spoke up.
"Link." Hearing that name almost made me choke. Link was the name of the princess's appointed knight. There was no way he just happened to show up and save me, "Huh... Well, my name is y/n, thank you for saving my life. I don't know how to repay you."
"Don't worry about it. I do this a lot." He chuckled slightly while looking back and giving me the most charming smile. Yup, that's him. Those looks don't lie.
I winced at my head which had begun to ache followed by a spot on my torso. My body was certainly starting to feel its wounds now and exhaustion was trying to pull at my eyelids, "You wouldn't mind if I dozed off for a second... Right...?" I muttered, resting my forehead on his shoulder. He tensed up at the realization I was fighting to stay awake and shook me off of him.
"We don't know the extent of your injuries yet. Try your best not to fall asleep." His tone was more urgent than before and he sped up ever so slightly. My legs were practically numbing themselves by the time we reached the stables and a few people hurried over. I could hear Link speaking to them but everything sounded as though there was a film covering my ears. I could tell I was being pulled down off the horse but I couldn't say a word nor could I see any of their faces properly.
