"that's not what i mean.. you said she had dark hair, but your hair is white so how come mine is blonde?" "you know, our hair colours mixed up!"

"dad... i'm not stupid, it doesn't work like that!"

"i know, i know, i'm just messing with you... well, my mom had blonde hair, just like you, you probably got it from her" he smiled down at his daughter.

he told her all that, and it sounded convincing to her, why wouldn't it?

though, izana knows the reason she has blonde hair is because ran haitani's natural hair color is blonde, and she actually got her violet eyes from him.. he was also aware of 'his mom' with the blonde hair not being blood related to him, but no one else knew about this so why would it cause any problems?

izana is the only person that knows that. and it's going to stay like this. he's not planning on telling anyone, he raised this child as his own and he's going to let everyone think that it was actually his.. which would get a bit hard considering that she's starting to look more like the haitani.

"oh... okay! by the way" she sat herself up again "why do you have two rings on the same finger?"

izana looked down at his left ring finger.

"well... me and your mom, we wore these rings when we got married, one of them actually belongs to her.. who knows, maybe i'll give it to you once you're older"

their conversation was interrupted by the doorbell ringing.

"uncle mikey and kakucho!" emma jumped up from the couch and ran towards the door to open it up for her babysitters.

"heyy emma!" manjiro smiled down at the little girl that jumped right into his arms "uncle mikey!!"

mikey is usually a rather quiet person. he had changed over the years, but this isn't his story.

emma is the one of the only people that actually still make him smile. she reminded him a lot of his deceased sister, especially because izana decided to name her after her.

"alright..." izana stood up from the couch "have fun with uncle mikey and kakucho... i have to do something important, i'll be back in a few hours" "okay... bye bye dad!"

"where are you going?" "having a small meet up with ran" izana responded to kakucho.

"seriously? ran? you guys haven't seen each other in years..."
