After placing the order and getting it together for the man and woman, I headed out and almost dropped the tray with the food that was on it when I saw who was sitting at one of the tables.
It was Damien with his five friends. Emma, Jack, Leo, Holly and Rob. Of course I knew their names because all of them were popular. Jack, Leo and Rob were all on the football team and Emma and Holly were cheerleaders.
This was the first time I ever saw any of them at this diner in the year that I've been working here, so I definitely wasn't expecting to see Damien there.
I got myself together and gripped the food that was in my hand properly, ensuring that I didn't drop it. After bringing the food to the table, I forcefully dragged my foot to Damien's table.
He didn't seem to notice me because he was chatting away with his friends not looking in the direction where I was coming from.
When I finally got to the table, that's when he seemed to notice me. At first he looked at me with a confused expression, then a bright smile appeared on his face. That caused my chest to swell. I was the waiter but in that moment, being face to face with Damien, I forgot how to do my job for a split second.
After some really awkward silence, with the two of us just watching each other and his friends watching us, he finally spoke.
"I didn't know you work here." He told me with that dazzling smile still on his face.
I nervously chuckled. "Yeah I've been working here for like a year now."
"Really? How come I never see you?" He asked and then thought for a moment before snapping his fingers. "May its because I only come here on Sundays." He said.
"Yeah I don't work on Sundays but the other waiter is sick so...here I am." I said in reply.
When I looked at the other guys at the table, I saw that they looking at our interaction with a strange look on their faces.
"How do you two know each other?" One of the girls Holly asked.
Damien looked at her with an eyebrow raised. "Maybe because we go to the same school."
"Really?" The other girl, Emma asked. "I've never seen him at school."
"Maybe it's because youre stuck in your little Emma world where everything is rainbows and butterflies, and you don't make an effort to talk to anyone else apart from who you're comfortable with." Damien told her.
She shoved him. "Why do you always have to be so mean?" she asked rolling her eyes.
"So what's your name?" Holly asked.
Before I could answer, Damien answered for me. "His name is Kai." He said smiling at me.
"That's a really cute name." Holly said causing me to blush.
"Ok Kai, my name is Leo, this is Jack and this is Rob and we are very hungry." Leo said laughing lightly.
Damien sent him an annoyed look while I just smiled at him. "What would you'll like to order?" I asked.
All of them ordered basically the same thing. Burgers, fries and milkshakes. Well, most of them because it seemed like Damien didn't want that.
"What do you recommend?" Damien asked me.
"Come on dude we're here like every Sunday and have practically tried everything on the menu by now, so stop wasting time, I'm hungry." Jack told him.
Wait, if Damien has tried basically everything on the menu like Jack said, then why is he still asking for recommendations? I didn't think of that for too long, anyway I had to help him out because he was a customer.
