Keith ran over to his slightly injured friend and put his arm over him. "Come on, let's go to the nurse." But Pico shook his head, he couldn't speak at the moment. Keith stopped and thought for a minute. After such moments passed, he sighed knowing the answer to this issue. "Come on, we're going home. We can skip today." Keith was almost surprised to hear his own self say it, but Pico needed to rest and recuperate.

Silence took root in Keith's bedroom, two teenagers rested inside from their day, Pico mostly from his punch taken to the chest. It wasn't the first time either. Both had many days of all out brawling with bullies, bitches, & botched abortions. The very concept of them being friends couldn't be left alone by some of those idiots.
In such events, Pico made it his mission to stomp their faces in. Due to the simple fact of, It was no one's damn business who he chose to hang out with. Furthermore, they shouldn't be trying to harm, mess with, or humiliate his friends. However, this was fucking draining. Just draining.
Pico breathed quietly, laying on his back in Keith's bed. His chest hurts from one last punch that asshole threw at him, he almost got it worse. He didn't see the dude coming, he put him in his place in the end but the aftermath was a brutal pain in his chest that's stinging for a bit.
Keith sat at his desk chair, avoiding any eye contact with the ginger, guilty running through him. Somewhere, he believed this was all his fault and he was sure Pico thought so too. Before they became friends, No one dared to fuck around with Pico. Yet, they're so enamored with bullying him, they take their chances against him. It was disgusting.
"I'm sorry." Keith said, firmly mustering his voice. It was the first sentence either of the boys spoke in the last 20 minutes or so, and that was it. Pico could feel his blood pressure rising at the stupidity of his little idiot. He gazed upon the man sitting, sitting up in bed himself. After a hard glare, he said it so nonchalantly.
"Shut the fuck up." He deadpanned with half lidded eyes. He did not wanna hear how sorry he was, if he actually felt bad then maybe he should help fight more often. Being apologetic doesn't fix shit, both him and Keith knew that. Keith hung his head more, feeling more guilt.
"I am! It's my fault, I know. They say all that shit to you because of me. You were feared before hanging out with me." Keith nearly cried out, feeling like he's just dragged Pico down to his level. The thought lodged itself in his mind. He was holding Pico back from fitting in, from a normal school life.
Pico just stared at him, yet his thoughts still eluded him. "I don't care when they call me names but it's not fair to you. When they say I'm your bitch and all that stuff.." Keith's mind could still hear nasty comments about him and Pico being in a relationship or some kind of situation ship. It was bothering him.
Meanwhile, Pico glared as he spoke. Almost begging him to not say anymore of this shit with his eyes. There was one specific phrase he hated, he'd have to physically stop himself from slapping the fuck out of Keith if he says it. "Keith." Pico said in futile attempts to stop his sulk. It was getting his damn nerves.
"I'm serious. Is us hanging out worth this? We don't have to hang out in school. That way they don't say stuff like that to you, just me." He paused for a moment. "Doesn't it bother you? You can't deny how much they sexualize us. That guy today, before he hit you," Keith took another pause almost wanting to cry.
Pico's body tensed up, he knew exactly what he was going to say and really didn't want to hear that word ever again. It was annoying. "When he said I was your 'twink' and the slurs." Keith ran his hands through his hair. Pico sighed. "Stop." He commanded furrowing his brow.
Pico sat up from the bed, getting to his feet. Keith matched his pacing and they walked to each other. The two stared into each other's eyes, earnest and veracity were reflected into their pupils respectively. Keith felt small next to him while Pico acknowledged he was only a few inches taller.
"Keith, who gives a shit?" Pico asked to him, feeling rage bubbling from the very word, 'twink'. He hated that word, so much. "Let's not give in to their words. We know we're just close. They don't get to label our friendship." He began, breathing in and wrapping his arms around Keith. It was a tight hug but it was returned.
"We're closer than ever, I needed someone and you were there. You need someone and I'm here. I never want to lose you due to some asshats pushing an agenda." His voice was the pinnacle of conviction. "Why does it need a label? You're one of the only people who I can act 100 percent around. Let's just be happy with each other, and I want to see you everyday I can." Pico finished, his face slightly flushed. Keith was feeling heat in his heart from Pico's words.
"You're right, You're right. They don't matter. It's just us, we know what we are." Keith replied with a small smile. Unfortunately, That was a complete lie. Pico's words had just confused the poor boy because it sounded like a confession. His heart was racing, even after Pico's arms released from around him.
Pico's head felt like it was spinning, the heat from the hug, the real unfiltered he spilled without even meaning to. It was all too much, yet the chest pain from early had vanished, now replaced with.. a thought he didn't even want to entertain. It wasn't homophobia, he just didn't want to ruin anything.
More silence hung in the air, both boys could feel the tension, not angry but sensual. Romance was drifting out of their minds into the room, pouring as they wished to do to their feelings. A sync, romantic telepathy on a spatial level. They'd never acknowledge it, at least out loud. They were really tripping each other's vibes.
"Wanna play video games?" Keith asked, breaking the silence. Pico chuckled for a second, finding it random but perfect timing. "Yeah, yeah. Let's play video games." He said, leading the way downstairs in the other boy's home. Keith happily trailed behind. He wanted to say something about his feelings but decided that it would come naturally. If it was meant to be, it'll happen on it's own time, not their time.
