Always and Forever

Chapter 2: Forgiveness

Layla's POV
I turned around to see Asher. I hope he didn't hear us, though it wouldn't be a bad thing. He walked over to me and stood kinda close to me.

Jasmine: Good morning Ash!
Layla: Morning Asher. How'd you sleep?
Asher: I slept well and you?
Layla: Same.

My eyes travelled down from his beautiful eyes to his chest. That's when I noticed he wasn't wearing a shirt. I'd seen him half-naked before bit it looks like he's been working out more. He's so hot! I lowered my head away to hide my intense blushing.

Asher: Something smells delicious.
Jasmine: That would be my pancakes.
Asher: This is nice of you.
Jasmine: Just so you know, I made these since it's Lia's favourite.
Asher: Of course you did.
Jasmine: But you're welcome to have some I'd you'd like.
Asher: Thank you sweet sister.

He smiled sarcastically, making me laugh. Jasmine gave us each a plate of pancakes and the 3 of us sat down at the kitchen counter. Jasmine and Asher sat on either side of me.

Third person
Jasmine: I heard you're both going to the event tonight.
Asher: Yeah, I thought I'd go with Laylia so she isn't too lonely.
Jasmine: *smirks* Is that the only reason?

Asher blushed and smiled nervously.

Asher: And because I wanted to go.
Jasmine: If you say so Ash. And you guys are going to the mall later?
Layla: Yes. Your mom insisted that we buy an outfit for tonight.
Jasmine: At least you two can spend some time together alone.

Jasmine winked at them and smiled.

Jasmine: Or do you want me to come with you?
Asher: No thanks Jas. We'll be fine just the two of us. Besides, you already got your dress.
Jasmine: Okay, that's fine. Someone seems to want alone time with his future wife.

After they finished eating, they left their used dishes at the sink and Layla got her bag from her room.

Layla: I better get going before I'm late.
Jasmine: See you later Lia!
Asher: Are you sure you'll be okay getting there by yourself?
Layla: I'm sure Asher.

Layla smiled at him. He smiled back and hugged her.

Asher: I'll pick you up when you're done. Be careful.
Layla: I will be.

Just before Layla left, Asher grabbed her hand.

Asher: I'm serious. If something like yesterday happens, I won't be there to help you.
Layla: I'll be fine, I'll promise. If I need your help, I'll call you.
Asher: Okay.

Asher smiled as she walked out of the house. The driver, Isabelle, came out and hugged her.

Isabelle: Good morning Ms. Layla.
Layla: Good morning Isabelle.

They got into the car and Isabelle drove her to a café. When she got there, Layla paid her. Layla walked inside and saw her father, Leo, sitting at a table. He saw her and stood up to greet her.

Leo: It's so good to see you again Layla. I missed you.
Layla: It's good to see you too

They both sat down and a waiter came up to them to take their orders. When he left, there was an awkward silence between them. Leo hesitated to speak but before he could, Layla did.

Layla: Why did you want to see me?
Leo: I want to apologize for what I out you through. I know it's not enough for you to forgive me, but I want to fix things between us. I was so broken that I tried to drown my sadness in alcohol. I neglected and abused you, and for that I'm truly sorry.
Layla: I understand that you were torn, I was too, but I thought we'd become closer instead of drifting apart.
Leo: I know. The distance out between us was my fault and I see that, but I want to mend our bond.
