1. Change of Rules

Start from the beginning

"I don't think it's a bad thing. You stand out, and it shows that you don't care what others think of you."

"Precisely. I don't care what people think of me nor do I care about them. Whoever dares to befriend me is wasting their time, and slowly, their patience with me will wear out and crumble. It'll be to the point where they can't stand me. Though, I would enjoy seeing somebody suffer because of me," the Addams thought about how much pleasure she would receive watching someone in agony.

"I'm positive your new roommate can change that," the lady's grin grew wider.

Wednesday's eyes went wide as the joyful woman looked through the stack of papers laying on top of the table. She pulled one out and handed it to Wednesday. She grabbed it and saw her full name in bold letters. Underneath it is her class schedule and a new room number she doesn't recognize.

"By the way, my name is Marilyn Thornhill. I'm actually your dorm mom of Ophelia Hall and your Botanical Science teacher. It'll be a lovely year to have you in my classroom," Thornhill continued beaming ear to ear.

Wednesday didn't bother to comment and left. She held the piece of paper with both hands and stared down at it carefully to examine the list of classes and activities she will be participating in. One thing she couldn't keep her eyes away was the dorm number and a name that she didn't catch earlier.

Enid Sinclair

Must be my new roommate. Great. Wednesday said to herself sarcastically.

She huffed loudly and clenched the paper in one hand, making it crinkle. Wednesday had memorized her schedule and the room number and thought best to find her new dorm while she has the time. The Addams knew the layout well considering she had escaped her dorm in the middle of the night to wander the entire school ground. Ophelia Hall is inside the quad and upstairs where most of the rooms are. There are four different halls, two belonging to the girls, and the other two for the boys.

Wednesday entered inside and found the flight of stairs leading to the hall she is settling in. As she made it to the top, a few Nevermore adolescents detected the noticeable Addams. They quickly stepped away and permitted Wednesday to pass through the hallway without being too close to the girl.

Most of them heard about her from friends or peers that had the same class as Wednesday. Of course, the psychic didn't mind it because it would mean that nobody would want to be friends with her. And that's the last thing she desires alongside love. None of it matters to her. Nothing at all.

She resumed her mission to find her new room while passing through most of the dorms. Eventually, Wednesday stopped in front of a door. Behind the entry is where she'll have to stay in the meantime. Later in the afternoon, her butler named Lurch will bring her belongings to the room as Wednesday will say her goodbyes to her family. As of now, she is ready to face her new roommate from the otherside of the door.

Mentally preparing herself, the Addams placed her right hand over the handle. She wanted to meet her roommate very quickly to get it done and over with. In her mind, she wished that whoever she is sharing the room with would not pester or speak to Wednesday. It'll be the best thing the small teen would ever experience. She puffed out a breath that Wednesday didn't realize she was holding in and twisted the knob. She pushed the door enough to set foot in.

The first thing Wednesday saw was a huge, round window. It has colorful, stained glass that covers the window entirely. The sight of colors made Wednesday groan in frustration and revulsion. The feeling got worse when she caught a glimpse of a blonde girl sitting on her desk on her side of the bright-colored bedroom. This was not what Wednesday expected one bit.

Her roommate did hear the door open and footsteps arriving inside the dorm. She turned her whole body to see who came in unannounced. Once she viewed the girl around her age with dark clothing, she put on a genuine smile. She stood up from the chair immediately and excitedly waddled towards Wednesday.

"Howdy, new roomie! You probably know my name already from your schedule, but just in case you don't, I'm Enid Sinclair," Enid greeted enthusiastically.

"Looks like I don't need to introduce myself if my name is on your paper," Wednesday uttered with a monotone voice.

"No worries! I heard so much about you, Wednesday Addams. I think we are going to be the best of roomies and friends."

After Enid finished speaking, she held out her arms and approached Wednesday slowly to give her a hug. What the colorful teenager didn't know was that Wednesday hates physical touch. So when Enid stepped forward, Wednesday took a step back. That's when Sinclair registered that her new roommate does not want to be embraced. Enid swiftly dropped her arms down and gave Wednesday an apologetic stare.

"Sorry. I'm guessing you're not a hugger," Enid apologized, suspecting that she might've made Wednesday uncomfortable.

"That and I'm allergic to colors," Wednesday pointed out.

"I'll take note of that."

I'm going to obliterate this whole academy with Enid in it. She's too bright and very vivid. She believes that I would want to be friends with her. Too bad her dreams will be crushed. Not only that, but I will make sure to torture Enid if she ever gets on my nerves. I'll somewhat be satisfied, but right now, I'm not. And it's all thanks to my roommate.
