Chapter 61: Not Inadequate*

"Thank you," he said quietly making you chuckle gently.

You took his hand lifting it to your lips "you have nothing to thank me for" you remind him.

You feel him smile against your shoulder as he held onto you tightly. The two of you soon fall asleep in each other's arms.

The morning of your anniversary you woke to the feeling of Steve kissing your shoulders. You smiled to yourself moving in his arms to face him, nuzzling yourself further into his chest. You felt him chuckle gently as he wrapped his arms around you tightly, kissing the top of your head.

"Happy anniversary doll" Steve murmurs into the top of your head.

You shift so you could look up and smile at him "happy anniversary" you smile reaching up to kiss him slowly.

"I have to say I wasn't expecting to spend our anniversary on another planet," Steve said making you chuckle as you move so your head was resting on his chest.

"It's definitely different" you agree just as there was a knock on the door.

"speaking of different," you say sitting up slightly before calling out "come in"

A couple of handmaids walked in carrying platters of breakfast food "where would you like these your highness?" One asks.

"Just on the bed is fine," you tell them as Steve raises his brow.

"Your highness" he smirks making you elbow him in the ribs.

The maids quickly placed the platters down on the bed before making their way out. Steve smiled as he looked down at it all, it was all so luxurious. He glanced over at you to see you smiling widely and he realises that he couldn't do this for you. You notice his smile falter for a split second but he quickly recovers so you decide not to question it.

Instead, the two of you tucked in. Trying everything that had been brought up. Some of the fruit Steve had never seen before in his life, them being native to Asgard alone.

"If I eat this I'm not gonna be trapped here forever right?" Steve asks with a smirk as he holds up one of the fruits.

You roll your eyes at him "I'm not Hades, plus you're already stuck with me" you smirk.

"Wouldn't have it any other way" Steve smiles leaning over to kiss you.

"And to prove it, here is your present" he smiles reaching over to grab the small box.

"Steve, you didn't have to" you mutter in disbelief as he passes you the box.

"I know, but I wanted to" Steve smiles kissing your temple.

You open up the box to see a beautiful necklace within. You could instantly tell it was Asgardian in its design. Two adjacent silver rings form a knot with a diamond in the middle of them.

"It's beautiful, when did you get it? We've been together the entire time we've been here" you say in disbelief.

"I may have enlisted the help of a lady and her three friends" Steve grins making you laugh.

"I love it, thank you so much," you say cupping his cheek and kissing him.

"Here let me" Steve smiles taking the necklace and putting it around your neck, kissing your shoulder as he pulls away.

"This is incredible Steve," you say placing your hand over the necklace.

"Anything for me princess" he smiles.

"Can I give you your present?" You ask him.

"Of course doll" Steve smiles pecking your lips.

You quickly get up from the bed moving over to a chest and grabbing the present you got for him. You held it to your chest as you walked back over.
