Stilinski had grown quiet, staring at nothing in particular. Amelie didn't care if she'd crossed a line with him— he seriously needed a reality check! He needed to realize what was happening, and she was tired of him living in denial and delusion.
"Come on, Scott," Amelie rolled her eyes as she walked out, the Alpha following her closely behind.
"That was badass," Scott whispered to her as he raised his fist for her to bump, to which she bumped back with a giggle.
"He deserved a good talking to," Amelie laughed, "Now, to Canaan?"
"To Canaan."
🥰
Thankfully, Amelie slept the entire drive to the mysterious town of Canaan. She and Scott were sprawled across the backseat uncomfortably. She was pretty sure she kicked him a few times in the face, because he would kick her back.
"Where are we?" Scott's sleepy voice made her flutter her eyes open and groan, kicking him one last time, making him shove her legs off the backseat.
"Are we there yet?" Amelie asked tiredly as she rubbed her eyes and sat up straight, not before throwing a glare at Scott.
"According to the GPS, this is it," Malia, who had been driving, nodded. The four teenagers slowly got out of the car and stepped into the town.
Amelie stared at the cars that were parked in the middle of the road, the houses with opened doors, the rotten food ridden onto the ground. Not a single person was in sight, but Amelie could sense a presence.
"Canaan's a ghost town," Lydia realized.
"I don't hear a single heartbeat," Scott said in amazement.
"I'm not catching any scents..."
"I wonder why Stiles would send us here?" Scott asked in confusion.
"I think I know," Amelie said quietly and the three teenagers looked at her warily. Taking in a deep breath, they all walked into the town, each taking their own path, hoping that if they spread out, they'll find something faster.
At a red brick house was where Amelie stopped. The white door was swung open and the entire house was on full view, which peaked her curiosity. She decided to go inside, maybe there were more clues in there. Rubbing her sweaty palms against her leggings, she stepped onto the patio.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from behind the door and she hadn't realized the blood-chilling scream she let out at the sight of her dead father and his killer right in front of her.
Matthew stood behind her father, an evil grin etched onto his lips as he gripped her father's shoulders and shook him aggressively— like he was taunting her. I killed your father and here is the proof. Her father's face would forever be embedded into her mind. It was the same as the day he died, three long bloody scratches mauling up all his soft features, from his chin to his hairline.
"Amelie!" Someone had gripped her shoulders this time, making her scream again as she turned around quickly, her eyes flickering purple, but she sighed in relief at Scott, Malia and Lydia standing. "It's okay! No one is here."
"I saw him," Amelie panted, turning back to make sure they were gone.
"It wasn't real," Lydia assured her softly, rubbing her arm and Amelie nodded. "The energy here, it's causing hallucinations. We can't stay here."
