Chapter 13 - Becoming Cinderella

Start from the beginning

“I know. I was a ginormous dick head and I won’t ever forget it.” He said solemnly and Maggie patted the back of his hand.

“So yeah, that’s really everything I guess, I already went over the last part but the only thing I can’t figure out is why I love giraffes so much.” I said weirdly. I don’t know why but ever since I woke up, I'm been craving to see a giraffe. Some little kid in the hallway had a giraffe balloon and I wanted to steal it from him. Yeah. I wanted to steal a giraffe balloon from a little kid.

“You love the color yellow and you like the idea that something so tall can also be graceful, like yourself.” Zayn said without looking up.

            “Really?” I asked flabbergasted.

“Yeah.” he said simply and continued scrolling through his phone. I assumed that was all I was getting out of him. Poetic and short statements were Zayn’s trademark. That I remembered perfectly.

By the time the car pulled into the house complex I was dead on my feet. The doctor-man had given me pain medications that knocked me out in three seconds flat. I was debating whether or not to take them when the loud slamming of the car door split my head like Zeus. (A/N: if you get that reference I will love you forever J )

“Take one,” Liam whispered in my ear, handing me the bottle. I first refused but shaking my head caused more pain. He led me to his house and up the stairs to his room.

“Uh,” I stopped awkwardly in the middle of the hallway. “Do you mind if I sleep in the spare room? I'm sorry I'm just really tired and need my own bed tonight.” I made up, but it was slightly true.

“Of course love, I don’t want to pressure you into anything too quickly since you just got your memory back.” He smiled sweetly down at me and dropped a kiss on my head that made my stomach drop to my butt. I felt so guilty. So so guilty, and so so tired. I muttered a thank you and turned into a random room, lucky that it was a spare room. I didn’t even bother to change my clothes I just pulled the covers tightly up to my ears and let the pills take me into a medicated slumber.

I woke up a few hours later into total darkness. I flipped on a bedside lamp and cringed at the brightness. It was 11:39 in the PM, great I been sleeping since I got home around two in the afternoon. I yawned and stretched, knowing I couldn’t go back to be I stepped out onto the cool wood floors. I went in search of my bags from the hospital that had my comfy sweatpants and Lulu Lemon shirt. I found both folded right outside my door. Liam was nowhere in sight so I slipped them on and went in search of him. I checked the bedroom first, nope, no Liam. Downstairs, no. Kitchen, nope.  My stomach growled and I realized I hadn’t eaten since my crappy hospital breakfast earlier this morning. I ripped through the fridge finding nothing to my liking. I had a craving for warm hot chocolate with whipped cream, chocolate fudge drizzle and mini marshmallows. Zayn! Zayn always had an emergency supply of mini marshmallows stored in the back of his pantry so Niall wouldn’t find them.

I slipped on my UGGs and walked over to his house, trying the door handle and found it open. His house was dark as well so I looked around before going in and shutting the cold air out. I flipped on a light and went in search of the marshmallows, Aha! Right where I knew they would be. I started the tea kettle and heard a floorboard creak. I spun around in time to see a shirtless Zayn wielding a baseball bat.

“Lissy, what the hell!” he said angrily but with underlying notes of relief in his voice as he dropped the metal bat on the floor. “I thought you were someone breaking in! Do you want to go back to the hospital?” he began to chuckle softly in his throat and walked closer to me, wrapping his muscular arms around my torso. His skin was warm and I melted right into him, hugging his fiercely in return.
