63. Inevitable pain

Start from the beginning

"Didn't even start it. No inspiration I guess." She nodded at that, knowing what it feels to just not be in the mood to do a school work. The problem was that this project would determine Eddie's graduation.

"Maybe look through old campaign sheets?" He raised his eyebrows as if saying that it was a good idea and she felt her heart jump happily at that, knowing she helped him somehow, even if a little bit. Eddie on the other hand was acting normal on the outside, but on the inside, the man was a wreck. She looked too good in the black leopard blouse, black leather pants, and the silver belt. She was just too beautiful tonight for him, and he talked to her because he just couldn't help himself. He needed to hear her voice, even if to just say hello to her.

"Yeah, that might work... Anyways, did you like our cover for 'Starman'? He asked her, kicking himself in his mind for it. It was a song Y/N tried to make him listen to many times, telling him that it was a masterpiece and that he should love it. He did. He just never told her. Her eyes widened at that, and she pushed him slightly by the shoulder, making him chuckle knowing she finally realized he liked the song all along and the place where she laid her hand on was already tingling through his whole body.

"You fucking ass! I knew you loved it!" She was so happy at the moment. He was remembering their times together, even if he didn't realize it, and her hope was ignited once again.

"Yeah, I did, but I was never going to admit I like David Bowie, I mean, where's the metal in that?" He asked her in between a dimpled smile and she shook her head with amazement in her eyes, as well as happiness. The sparks were flying between them because they never left. It's just these two people that didn't see them, or feel them even, but everyone else did, even the barman from a distance.

"Oh my god, David Bowie may not be metal, but he is art!" She fought back and he shook his head at her, his curls moving all around as he did, and it felt as if the two of them were alone, having a date at the bar where he plays at.

"Whatever you say darling." And the smiles were dropped. They stared at eachother, their eyes connecting immediately, their hearts beating as if they were one, and the whole world went mute. He hadn't called her by any nickname ever since they broke up. She felt her mouth go dry, and her throat felt as if there was a rock in it, not letting her words come out. He felt his breathing quicken, every second, looking down at her, and there was no excuse for him now. He wasn't drunk, not even tipsy, yet he wanted to hold her face in his hands, and kiss her right in front of everyone, claim her as his, marking her.

But was she really his?

He cleared his throat and took a long sip of his beer, slamming it on the table before talking again, not daring to look at her eyes, afraid of getting lost in them once again.

"I uhm... I will go freshen up, I kinda smell." He didn't even wait for her to respond and he immediately rushed off from the table, towards the backstage behind the curtain. Y/N looked towards the can of beer, her heart beating into her ears, not being able to listen to anyone else because of how loud it was. She gulped, finally swallowing the rock down and she could finally hear someone calling her out.

"Y/N, what was that?" Nancy asked, leaning into her and Y/N looked up and saw the worried faces of Steve, Robin and Chrissy looking at her. It seems only the grown ups were able to see the interaction. Gareth and Jeff were at the bar, and the younger ones were all babbling by themselves.

"I-I don't know. I'm sweating, I'm sweating so bad." Y/N said, trying to fan herself with her hands, feeling her whole body on fire. Maybe it was the alcohol doing this to her, intensifying the feelings even more than before, because nothing could explain the way she was feeling right now.
