But if he had...then he was playing unfair.
And if it were an unfair game, she could make it very unfair. He collapsed in a tall throne-like chair, gesturing for her to sit in one of the ones across from his, that looked like small plastic chairs that little kids used in comparison.
But Sophie stood standing.
She planted her feet firmly on the floor, locking her knees and preventing herself from fidgeting or pacing.
She needed to show him that she wasn't nervous. That she didn't care. That she belittled him.
He sighed in response to her defiance.
"Miss Foster, I know Mr. Sencen leaving was hard on you-"
"You don't know anything."
Sophie croaked, surprised at herself for speaking again.Clearly her anger wanted to disobey her.
Magnate Leto looked slightly surprised too.
"So your speaking again, are you?"
He studied her intently.Sophie just stared at him, wanting to kick herself for progressing the conversation.
She was making it easy on him.
She was too predictable to his mind games.
She was too predictable.
The Neverseen had beaten them time and time again, because she was so predictable.
And they had told her that over and over again.
If only she had listened.
She needed to break it, as if it were a nervous habit.
But then again, no such luck with the eyelash tugging.
"Well then."
Magnate Leto continued.Sophie thought he looked slightly smug, as if he somehow knew that thoughts were forming in her head.
If he had read her thoughts she was going too-
"I know your thoughts are foaming Miss Foster. And not because I'm reading your mind,"
He told her, as she stared at him intensely, trying (and failing) to glare."I can tell by the look in your eyes. I know you far too well."
He studied his perfectly cut fingernails. She doubted that he knew a thing of what she was thinking. She wished to roll her eyes insanely bad now.
"But even after times of your misbehavior, I will still not violate your privacy."
He met her eyes.He was making it abundantly clear about his appreciation of their last encounter.
Bitterness pooled in her chest, swelling larger by every second pass.
And he just stared at her, his piercing blue eyes without expression.
It made her beyond angry.
Raged
Infuriated
Outraged
Irritated
Exasperated
WrathfulInternally, she was fuming.
But externally, she was still.Waiting for the frenzy to pass.
But it wouldn't go.
As if it clung to her for support. For growth.
What about his statement made her so mad? She wasn't sure.
Or she was.
The fact that he constantly violated her privacy.
Though he loved claiming he didn't.
