"He's a coworker." She explained to him, handing the joint back to him. She received a slight glare and he took a drag out of his fourth roll of the day.

"Coworker my ass." He says and that's when she felt panic mix with anger, letting the words come out of her mouth.

"And what's it to you? I have to explain my friends to you now?" She glared at him as she stood in front of him in the middle of the room. He stared down at her, the bug in his gut telling him to push her away, to send her home, but his mouth and brain had other plans.

"Can you imagine how I felt when I heard you went out with another guy?" He suddenly blurts out, and her eyes softened instantly. She felt her heart picking up an even quicker pace, and her body heated up almost instantly. He sighed and took a sip out of his beer as he looked down at the floor. She licked her lips, now nervousness and angst talking for her.

"I swear... It was nothing." He raised his eyes to look into hers, and his own demeanor softened as he saw the hopeful look she was directing his way. Almost desperate. He felt his throat go dry even if he were drinking and he sighed, nodding once, heading over to the bed, sitting down, throwing the joint into the ashtray in the night table next to his bed. She licked her lips and walked over to the bed and sat next to him, taking a sip of her beer. She was nervous because she didn't know if he trusted her so she had to try to feel the waters somehow, but she didn't even know what to say. Gladly, he talked for her.

"You came to check on me?" He asked her and she looked down on her fingers, and slowly nodded, a blush creeping all over her cheeks. He stared at her profile and someone who goes on a date, wouldn't come right after to make sure to dismiss it all. That's what he was trying to reason with the trust bug in his gut, and he didn't know if he was winning the argument.

"I just wanted to make sure you still know I am waiting for your slow ass." She tried to lift the mood and she succeeded, making him chuckle, tipsy from the amount of beers in his system and the high, but still feeling grateful for hearing those words from her.

"Slow ass? Really? That's a low blow." He says to her as they take sips of their beers together. She giggled under her breath and nodded. He felt the inside of his chest warm up thanks to her words, the grey clouds moving away from his head. Silence engulfed them and Y/N got up to go towards his desk to get hold of another prepared rolled joint. She put it in her lips and lit it up with his lighter, taking a long drag out of it. He was looking at her back with a puzzled look on his face.

"I thought about it." He raised an eyebrow up at her as she turned around, looking down at the floor, resting her backside against his desk with the joint in one hand, the beer on the other.

"What?" He asked her, confused by her words.

"When you found me passed out on Laura's bed." He went back in time in his mind and he blinked a few times, realization hitting his whole body like cold water. "It was a second, just one. Carver's words cut me deep because... he was right. None of you came to check on me but Lucas, none of you even rang me up to check if I was alive. Do you know how much that damages a person's self-worth?" She looked up at him with anger in her eyes as he was looking at her with a worried frown in his brows, taking in what she was telling him, feeling anxious just by the thought of it.

"Darling... We did ask for you; I did go look for you. I got so worried when I saw you drive away, and then see the amount of alcohol that was in the kitchen..." He stood up from the bed as she stared at him. He wanted to hug her, tightly, close to him, but he knew she wasn't done speaking. Her features softened at his confession but she shook her head, looking down at the floor again, not wanting to look into his eyes.

"I still have... So much anger regarding that. So much..." She continued, gulping tightly as she took a drag out of the joint, already feeling the high as she took a sip of her beer as well.
