How Marvel Characters Would React to You Being Deadnamed [Part 2]

Start from the beginning

You nodded absently. "Yeah..."

Stephen watched you for a moment, sensing something else was bothering you. "What's wrong?"

You shook your head, "it's nothing." You lied.

Stephen hesitated, but nodded, and continued walking with you towards the Sanctum.

It was his turn to make dinner tonight, usually he ushered you out of the kitchen—insisting on him taking the reigns, and making it exactly how he wanted it. He didn't trust anyone else in the kitchen, and thought anyone else would mess it up.

But this time, you were sitting in the library while he was in the kitchen. He assumed you were trying to distract yourself. And while he was right, you weren't as successful as you may have liked.

It bothered you that Stephen knew your deadname—it bothered you a lot. Anyone who ever knew it ended up using it—either to hurt you, or claiming that it was easier to call you that. You tried telling yourself you could trust him—that this time would be different—but you weren't satisfied with this. It still felt unresolved.

Once dinner was ready, you sat down with an odd tension between the two of you.

"Um," you spoke, deciding to break the silence. Stephen looked up at you.

"Yes?"

"I don't want you to use that name with me. Ever."

Stephen nodded. "I won't."

"I...sorry, I just never planned on telling you."

"I understand. Your past is your own, you don't need to apologize. Besides, I'm not so new to this that I don't understand why they call it a dead name." He added, giving you a crooked smile.

"Okay, I just...wanted to make sure."

He nodded. "I really had no intention of finding out. If anything I was thrown off-guard that she called you that."

You sighed. "Yeah, she just doesn't seem to get it. But now I don't talk to her anymore, and I feel much better."

"I'm happy for you. It can't be easy to cut off a family member."

You shook your head, agreeing with him.

He reached his hand out for yours on the table. He hovered it over yours, before you put your hand in his, and he gave you a soft smile. You squeezed your hand back, understanding what he was trying to say—that he loves you, and that he's proud, and that he isn't going anywhere.

Thor
Additional warnings: unsupportive family, slight misgendering

Thor just had to visit your hometown—he just had to. You understood his curiosity, of course, and you would've been fine with him going... except he insisted on you going with him as well. Which meant there was a possibility of you running into your family.

You grew up in a small town, the kind where everyone knows everybody else. When you told Thor this, he was intrigued. He thought it was a great idea—and having landed in New York City, he had no idea that there could be places like that on Earth.

Your family owned several shops throughout the town—be it your parents, or your aunts and uncles. Probably even a few cousins who had nothing better to do at this point, as well. It would be difficult to avoid running into them, which is how you were walking down the sidewalk with Thor with a pit of anxiety rumbling around in your gut.

Luckily, you had managed to keep him away from a few of the shops—telling him they weren't very interesting, or that he wouldn't like them. You always promised there was a better place a little ways down to keep up your act, and, of course, went into those places as promised. You made sure he'd like where you took him—and what he didn't know couldn't hurt him. You weren't going to stay here too long, right?
