"Are you thinking of your knight in shining armor again?" Lex looked back from the front seat, making me frown.
"Drop the topic, will you? You are reading into things," I shook my head defiantly, hoping to get the girl off my case.
"He was staring at you hard. I think he even looked at your butt when you got into the car!" She reported, like the little observer she was.
"Eww!" Tim crunched up his nose, making me roll my eyes.
"That's the fate of you too, you know," I sighed dramatically. "Staring at the butts of ladies."
"No way," Tim murmured.
"Do girls stare at guys' butts too?" Lex asked, and I just noticed the presence of the poor lawyer at the front beside her. Despite myself, I giggled.
"Sometimes."
"If you look to the right, you'll see a herd of the first dinosaurs on our tour, called Dilophosaurus," Our tour guide began, interrupting the slightly scarring conversation. "One of the earliest carnivores, we now know Dilophosaurus is actually poisonous spitting its venom at its prey, causing blindness and paralysis, allowing the carnivore to eat at its leisure. This makes Dilophosaurus a beautiful but deadly addition to Jurassic Park."
"Can you guys see it?" I leaned closer to the window, ignoring the way Tim was pushing me into my seat so he could see better.
"Nope," Lex sighed, although Tim was much more disappointed.
Soon, the car came to a stop at another closed-off place, where only the dark green leaves were visible. Tim didn't have to climb over me to see this time, and he was quickly glued to the window in hopes of seeing something, just anything at this point. I let my mouth leave a sigh as I wondered what the others thought of the trip so far.
Then, a goat appeared behind the tall, electric fences, chained to the ground as it awaited its death. I grimaced at the thought of seeing the poor thing slain, but after all the waiting, I was a bit excited to finally see something. Even though my uncle apparently made this park filled with dinosaurs, we failed to see one so far during our tour, which was honestly a bit disappointing.
"He's gonna eat the goat?" Lex looked back at me with furrowed eyebrows, obviously upset.
"Excellent," Tim whispered beside me, delighted. The little psychopath.
"What's the matter kid, you never had lamb chops?" The lawyer joined the conversation, making Lex huff.
"I happen to be a vegetarian!" She replied determinedly.
"Besides, we are going to watch a poor goat get eaten live," I added, then turned to my cousin. "And since when are you a vegetarian?"
"Since two months ago," She admitted quietly, but I just nodded back at her. After all, we didn't really keep in touch.
Since the goat wasn't snatched by any dinosaur, no matter how long we waited, the cars began moving again. I sighed, slumping back against my seat in frustration. I would have so much more fun at my excavation site with my dead t-rex, but here I was, trying to see live ones. If it depended on me, I would only want to see them from a safe distance. Like from a country away through a TV screen. Okay, maybe I was a bit of a scaredy cat.
Just when I thought our little trip couldn't be weirder, I looked back to see Alan jump out of his moving car like it was nothing, Ellie following him a moment later. I furrowed my eyebrows, successfully making eye contact with Ian, who was still in the car. He looked as confused as I was, but then the vehicles finally stopped.
I hopped out of the car first, looking around to see if it was actually safe for us to be walking around, but the kids got out without my permission anyway, hurrying after Alan and Ellie. I rolled my eyes as I walked over to the loner in the other car, Ian, who didn't really look like he wanted to move. His mouth quirked up at the ends as he noticed me walking over, and he was out of the car a second later.
