Trent's head shook, and a silly smile played on his full lips. "I only need to talk with her. It shouldn't take long. I promise." His smile broadened when Aaron's eyes narrowed. "Jesus, Aaron. She's Callum's girl. You should know I would never touch something of his. I just have some questions to ask her."
I rose from my chair, looking at Aaron as I said, "It's okay. I trust him." I looked at Trent. "Besides, if he does something to me, Callum will come unglued and will make sure his brother never walks again," I said, curling my lip, letting him know that's a warning.
"Again, I don't need a warning. If it makes you feel better, Callum and I have a code, and that is, we don't share."
Still acting like he's my bodyguard, Aaron looked at Isabelle, then his watch, saying, "You've got a maximum of fifteen minutes."
Trent smacked Aaron upside the head. "You don't call the shots here. I do, Casanova."
Aaron chuckled. "That's right. Don't forget that either." He looked at me with a goofy smile, aiming his thumb at Trent. "This guy has always been jealous of me—always wishing he had the same charm as me."
Trent looked at me, and the look on his face told me these guys were just messing with each other. "It's the other way around. He's always been jealous of me and my charm with the ladies. Anyway..." he said, walking around Isabelle, and when he got to me, he looked at Aaron, saying, "As I said, this won't take long."
Trent's hand rested on my backside as he guided me down the corridor, bringing me wherever he was. He raised his key card to the scanner when we approached a door, then headed down another long hallway until we reached another door. He opened the door for me, waving his hand for me to enter.
I looked around the mid-sized office room as I headed to the chair in front of his desk he asked that I take. The room was a little more spacious than mine and clean. He also had pictures on the walls that weren't too surprising—all related to sex.
"So..." I said, crossing my leg over the other and folding my hands. "What did you need to talk to me about?" I assume he wants to talk to me about Callum not wanting me here. And if he says anything such as I think he will, he'll regret it. Since working for Callum, I learned to be more vocal and how not to be afraid to tell someone off.
And apparently, if someone pisses me off enough, I'll deck them in the face.
My newest temper relief.
He leaned back in his chair, studying me.
"Look, I'm sure Callum told you I'm not allowed to come here without him, and if he did, I'm sorry to say, he can kiss my ass. He's not my daddy. And neither are you if you're here to tell me I need to leave the premises, that I'm not allowed to be here."
He chuckled, "Callum told me you're a feisty one."
"He's correct," I warned, a ghost of a smile forming on my lips, unsure if I should smile or frown.
He leaned forward, grinning. "Don't worry; I didn't bring you here to tell you, you must leave. I would have just escorted you out when we left your table, if that's what I had in mind. I just have a couple of questions to ask."
I looked at the clock on the wall and saw I had about a half hour left until Lilah would be done, then at Trent, squaring my shoulders, saying, "The clock is ticking..."
He chuckled, and I immediately turned around, thinking Callum had entered the room—they laughed the same, too. "Now I know what Callum was talking about regarding you. And now I understand much more why he's drawn to you."
"That's nice to know. Now, will you get to the point about what you wanted to say or ask me?"
"Of course. As you know by now, I'm Trent, Callum's older brother." I nodded with a roll of my eye. Obviously, I know. "Anyway, I want you to know that by me being older, I look out for him."
