Chapter Forty-Four & Forty-Five

He kissed me back before I pulled away and took a deep breath and faced the situation. Gillian was standing with a gun aimed at Peter. Yuugo and Lucas were standing there too. Zack was treating Vincent's shoulder and Nigel was helping him.

I walked over to them and Emma, Norman, Ray, Don, and Gilda all appeared from one of the doors. We had all gathered up here in the end.

"I think you kids are forgetting something," Peter said.

I lifted my head and looked around. There were Sisters with guns aimed at us blocking the exits. And Isabella amongst them. I spotted Rain hidden in the crowd and she saw me too. There's no way they turned against us. They're on our side.

Right?

"Mom," Emma whispered.

"Was it fun outside, Emma?" Isabella asked, approaching her "You've destroyed everything. You fought, and fought, but no matter how much you resist, it still ends up this way. Despair is unavoidable. You and everyone else returned. You didn't learn your lesson and this is the result. All of you did splendidly. Perfect scores for everyone."

Then, she aimed the gun towards Peter. The man on the floor. "You betrayed me, Isabella!" He shouted.

"Yuugo," I whispered, tugging his sleeve. He immediately turned his attention to me and suddenly, I didn't feel 17 anymore. I felt 2 again. I felt like I was back there, all those years ago. It felt like I was the one leaving my family and they were staying behind. Even though that wasn't happening it sure as hell felt that way.

"What's wrong, Y/N," he asked warily, hugging me.

I pushed him away. "I changed the reward. You and Lucas aren't going to die anymore. No one's going to die, I promise."

"So what's the reward?" Lucas asked. Neither of them looked as happy at all like I thought they would've.

"The One wants to visit the human world– visit us every now and then," I said.

They both smile. Seems like they bought it. "That's good. No ones going to die. You did good, Y/N. I just wish you hadn't gone through all that trouble to try to change the reward."

"I'd do anything for you and Lucas if it meant keeping you alive," I smiled.

"And we would do anything for you too, kid."

I turned my attention back to the scene and I saw Peter getting up and going after one of the sisters. "Get down!"

I should've killed him to begin with.

"Y/N!" I heard. But I ran. And I stopped when I came face to face with him.

Chapter Forty-Five

"Peter, do you know, I made the promise? Will you kill me to keep it?"

Those were the words I asked him. I asked him this to see if he cared for his family more than he did his reputation. More than the power he thinks he holds.
