Chapter 49 - Jorso'ran aaray

A smile tugged at her lips when I called him an idiot, but knowing she would be at a disadvantage in a fight with her cuffs still on, it didn't bloom. I added on, more seriously, "Look, we're getting out of here today. I know you don't trust me after what happened, but I will never let anyone or anything hurt you. And if you want me gone when we get back to the cruiser, I will leave without complaint. All I care about is keeping you safe."

Her big eyes gazed into mine and in the very corner of them I could see her old childish spark slowly lighting up again. Ahsoka was willing to trust in that.

Looking around before I exited I saw two of the guards closing in, having heard the very obvious, loud noise of the door breaking open. I signalled for Ahsoka to stay back and went out to face them head on. The Force now growled in me, waiting to be wielded again. The pure strength of it seemed to boil and curl around me. It was incredibly freeing to not hold back on it anymore, not have to hide it. My mental walls that I had been so careful to always keep up now tumbled down as I got closer to them. All the restraints I had bound around myself snapped open before fading. As if a wild Varactyl who's legs had been restrained was now freed and could thrash out into a sprint.

"Oh this is going to be fun."

Stretching my hand out I felt the Force whip out and latch on to the crackling electro staff one of the droid guards held. Flicking my hand open it was ripped out from its grip and settled into mine. The purple energy from the staff illuminated the walls around us in a soft glow as I stared down the droids, "Come on then, I haven't got all day."

The other who still had its staff lashed out in an attack that I easily parried, hitting one of its legs. The crackling energy sizzled into the mechanical part, effectively keeping it restrained as I used the Force with my other hand to tear the neck joints. The guard tried to grasp at the invisible hand around its neck. A futile attempt as not a second later the head came screeching off and the body collapsed in on itself. I flung the head at the unarmed guard before closing in on it. I went into a flurry of attacks, throwing down blows from above and following up with more from the sides. It blocked with its forearms as best as it could. Falling into a bit of a pattern with the quick attacks, I managed to trick it into leaving the abdomen area exposed. Doing a fake lash out with the opposite end of the staff, I pulled it back at the last second and thrusted the crackling front end into the stomach. Calling on the surging Force within me, the staff went clean through as the droid staggered and collapsed down. The faint smell of fried circuits reached my nose, making me scrunch it up a bit. Yanking the staff back out I called for Ahsoka who had apparently been watching the whole thing.

"Come here, I can get the cuffs off with the staff."

She approached and soundlessly stepped over the first guard that was now littering the ground. Using the staff to short circuit the cuffs, it only took a few seconds before they clattered to the ground as well.

"Thanks," she gently rubbed the skin around her wrists, still letting her eyes wander around the two guards, "It's strange to see you fight like this. Much less wield the Force."

I threw a quick look around to the fallen droids and chuckled, "Yeah... it's strange yet so freeing to use it again," looking down at my hands I let myself fully feel it swirling within and how it expanded my awareness of my surroundings, " ...to keep it locked down and hidden for so long... I had forgotten what it felt like."

Bringing myself out of it to not get too lost, I sucked in a breath and set my mind to remember the way to Grievous' main room where we had conversed previously. Feeling confident that I could find my way there, I nodded for Ahsoka to take the other staff, "Let's go, they know we're out so let's not drag this on any further than necessary."
