However, considering what happened last weekend I had to guess Zoë would drag me into that savage area.

I was getting used to how annoying Zoë could be, but the further she bothered me IN SCHOOL the further I could hate on her.

“Stop fighting.” Zoë said to me as I tried to pull myself off from her adrenaline-lunatic-motocross-extreme-sport-maniac grip. “You know it’s no use. Plus you are only accompanying me to buy my lunch. That’s it.”

“B-But,” I stuttered from the strength I was using, “I-I don’t want to.”

“So what?” She replied as she gave me a grin from over her shoulder.

So what? I still didn’t want to!

Zoë pushed open the doors, and wow. An overwhelming wave of sounds washed over me instantaneously. I swear I was just on the verge of being dizzy from it. It wasn’t as bad as in the party but for some reason I was over-sensitive today.

I got dragged over to the cafeteria line along with the other students whose parents never doubted on giving them money for food that is made of who knows what. As we settled down behind a bunch of boys, others started lining up behind us almost instantly. I tried not to pay attention to them, but how was I not going to? I was with Zoë in a public area and that was much more than a reason to freak out right now.

I gave my head small shakes and tried to concentrate on something different other than the fact that I felt this line was taking forever to advance. Due to that, I started watching the food but didn’t realize the line stopped abruptly and so I bumped against a guy from behind. Instantaneously, I jerked my face up to the person’s head to see him turn around softly with no particular hatred in his actions.

“Uh. Sorr…” The guys started saying while he opened his eyes after a quick blink. “Hey.”

… Oh God. So he WAS in my school…

I kept staring up at him petrified of his recognition. I bet my eyes were wide open and I really did seem petrified, but probably this guy was too nice to even show me he noticed.

“Matt. Remember?”

I’d say I was… paralyzed enough to say that when the blonde haired guy with brown streaks, dark eyebrows and blue eyes extended his hand in greeting, mine were stuck with sweat against my jeans.

“Oh. You were the DJ in the party.” Zoë extended grabbed his hand instead of me like the savior she could be.

He glanced at her and when he realized who it was he smiled with a friendly glint in it. “Oh. Hey, yeah. I’m Matt.”

“Yeah, you said it already.” She said with a last shake of his hand and then pointed at herself. “Zoë.”

“Yeah, I know.” Matt replied. He stepped back as the line slowly advanced.

Zoë set a hand on my back to push me little by little since I couldn’t help but still feel like I couldn’t move. Man, why was I panicking so much? Was it because I’d never talk to anyone in school other than occasionally to Zoë? Probably. It’s even worse this case because he’s recognized me and that means maybe someone else will if they see me up close.

Zoë  and Matt ordered what they wanted from the collection of artificial, junk food in the cafeteria. The only thought that occurred to me was the fact that this school had still not adopted the healthy eating policies they should follow…

I know. Lame.

“Bye then. See you some other time.” Matt said as he paid his lunch. “By the way. You play the guitar really well, Alex.”
