And with that he left towards the back table with who-know-who.
….
“Hmmm….” Zoë put her wallet back into her pocket and grabbed her hamburger plastic plate. “Let’s go outside now?”
“Y-Yeah…” I stuttered from my mouth.
====
“He’s going to be another recruit.” Zoë said mindlessly as we sat against a tree out in the school field.
I swear the ham and cheese sandwich almost fell from my hands when I heard that. There was I trembling enough from the unexpected meeting back there looking forward to calming down, and she tells me that. Seriously?
“Seriously?” I asked as if offended.
“Yeah. Believe it or not but he’s a good cello player.” She answered back as she bit into her lunch. “Have heard him before, and he’s really not that bad. I guess he’s talents go beyond it though.”
“God.” I said batting my free hand down onto the ground. I felt as if a flood in my stomach was about to get released in a tsunami. “Can’t you tell me who all of these people are already? I don’t like surprises at all!”
Zoë’s head snapped towards me in surprise at my sudden anger outburst. She cocked her head to the side and frowned. “Well. It’s not that I’m keeping them a secret. I hardly have time to tell you once I get them, it just happens. Plus what’s up with you? You’ve been really strange today. Getting mad and even talking to me more than the 3-5 words per hour.”
3-5 words?
…
It wasn’t I was mad at her for doing her job. I think it’s mostly me. I get extremely annoyed really easily but her constant surprises were seriously… getting me by surprise. I couldn’t help it.
Since I just stared at her and Zoë stared back at me while my mind was thinking about nothing in particular other than the fact I was feeling extremely annoyed, Zoë decided to stand up. She breathed in and exhaled strongly before turning around to me once again. Using her hand, she signaled me to stand up, but I crossed my arms stubbornly across my chest and looked to the side frowning.
No way that I was following her orders right now. Who did she think she was?
I guess that since I refused to do anything for more than a few minutes, Zoë knelt in front of me and pulled my face to look at her… not without me trying resist her.
“Look. Alex.” Zoë said staring intently at me. She paused and then smirked at me as if she knew what was going on straight away. “Damn. Now that I look at you I can tell you’re really grumpy. Okay, tell me. Are you on your period?”
Her smile widened as my eyes concentrated on her and then got diverted to the side in embarrassment. I was on full blushing mode right now.
Zoë sat back down on her butt laughing so hard that I swear my face started to get redder. How could she be so open on this subject? I mean… not that I wasn’t, but that was so random.
“Okay, okay.” She said rubbing her eyes. “Sorry. Made you uncomfortable. Dude. You’ve got PMS!
“PMS?” I asked as she continued lauging
“Pre-Menstrual Syndrome?” She answered back raising an eyebrow and trying to contain her laughter, “When you get mad before you’re period? Which I think is a total lie cuz it can happen at almost any time before, during and after.”
