Planetary Assault

Start from the beginning

The gem technicians in the base scrambled to keep their equipment from malfunctioning as the planet continued to shake violently. Peridot quickly regained her footing and shouted orders to the soldiers to fall back to the interior of the bases and take cover. As the gem soldiers ran towards safety, the chaos forces took advantage of the moment and surged forward, firing their weapons and unleashing their devastating powers.

Peridot watched as the chaos forces closed in on the retreating gem soldiers, the green energy pulsing out from the flagship again and again. The gem technician who had first noticed the congregation of ships shouted out that they needed to take out the flagship before it unleashed any more devastating energy.

Peridot quickly relayed the message to the gem ships still in the atmosphere and they began to focus their fire on the chaos flagship, despite the intense anti-air defenses that the chaos forces had set up around it. The gem ships took heavy damage, but they managed to disable the flagship's energy source before it could unleash any more destruction.

With the flagship neutralized, the chaos forces began to retreat back to their own ships, but the gem soldiers continued to engage them as the small fighters veered in close for bombing runs, determined to push them off the planet entirely. It was a long and grueling battle, but eventually, the gem forces emerged victorious, their base and outpost still intact.

Peridot breathed a sigh of relief as what remained of the Chaos ships retreated back into deep space. The planet was still shaking haphazardly, but the green energy pulses had stopped. She knew that the gem forces would need to regroup and repair, but for now, they had saved the outpost and defended their territory against the chaos forces.

Peridot and the soldiers that were caught in the energy blasts still felt the jolts and crackles of lingering green energy over their forms, she leaned against her control console as she used one of her arms to point to a technician, "G-get black diamond on the line."

The technician quickly nodded and began typing on the console, patching through a communication channel to Black Diamond. Peridot waited patiently as the signal connected, her mind racing with the possibilities of what could have caused the chaos fleet to attack their outpost with such ferocity.

When Black Diamond's holographic image finally appeared on the screen, Peridot wasted no time in reporting what had happened. She explained how the chaos fleet had attacked their outpost with powerful energy blasts, causing the planet to shake and crack, and how the gem soldiers had managed to defend their base despite the overwhelming force of the chaos troops.

Black Diamond listened intently, his expression unreadable. When Peridot finished, there was a moment of silence before Black Diamond spoke.

"This is troubling news, Peridot," he said, his light voice firm. "We must investigate this further. I will send a team to your location to gather more information."

Peridot nodded, relieved that Black Diamond was generous with the reinforcements. They would need all the gems they could get in order to make up for all of the soldiers that were shattered in the battle.

She gave a crisp Diamond salute before the transmission cut, "status report?" she asked one of the technicians as she sat down on a chair. She wanted to see how many remaining ships of their fleet they had left.

The technician quickly brought up a holographic display showing the status of their fleet. "We've lost five cruisers and ten frigates, but the majority of our ships are still intact. Our ground forces suffered heavy losses, but we were able to hold off the chaos forces and protect the outpost," the technician reported.

Peridot nodded, relieved that their losses weren't more severe. "Good work. Make sure we send out repair teams to get our ships back up and running. We can't afford to be caught off guard again," she said, looking at the holographic display.

The technician nodded and began relaying orders to the repair teams. Peridot sat back in her chair, feeling the exhaustion and weight of the battle settling in. She knew that they had won this battle, but the war against the chaos forces was far from over.

"Send some teams to scavenge what debris we could make use of," she said as she brought up some more panels, "also, Black Diamond had informed me prior that whatever weaponry and armor that was left behind by the enemy, to take it so that it could be sent back to Homeworld," she added in.

The technicians nodded in agreement and quickly began to organize teams to scavenge the debris and collect any useful technology or equipment. Peridot continued to monitor the situation, checking in with the soldiers and coordinating with the gem ships in orbit.

As the teams brought in their findings, Peridot oversaw the sorting and cataloging of the weapons and armor, making sure that everything was accounted for and would be sent back to Homeworld.

Peridot couldn't help but feel a sense of pride as she watched her fellow gems work diligently to rebuild and prepare for the next challenge. They were making their Diamond proud.

"Also, set up a gem scanner," she said. "I want to ascertain what the lingering energy is doing to our gems," she said as she felt the peridot on her armored chest, before adjusting the cap on her head.

The technicians quickly got to work, setting up a gem scanner to analyze the effects of the lingering green energy on the gem soldiers. Peridot watched as the scanner hummed to life, the panels showing the energy levels and readings.

As the scanner ran, Peridot couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She had seen the devastating effects of the energy pulses firsthand, and she knew that they needed to act quickly to protect their soldiers.

After a few moments, the scanner beeped, and the technician read out the results. "The energy appears to be causing some sort of destabilization in the gem's physical form," the technician reported. "It's affecting their movements and causing them to lose their shape."

Peridot frowned, "What do we do to counter it?" she asked, her mind already working on a solution.

"We could try to use our gem destabilizers to counteract the effects," the technician suggested. "But we'll need to be careful, as it could potentially cause further damage to the gems."

Peridot nodded, "Alright, get to work on it," she said. "We need to protect our soldiers at all costs."
