Just like a little boy who did something to make his mom upset. Snapping out of her thoughts, she looked over at the phone and picked it up.
Once she picked the phone up and put it to her ear, he did the same.
"I'm sorry mama." Were the first words to come out his mouth, as she expected.
"I know I got a lot of explaining to do so I'll start-"
"Penda already told me everything but I want to hear it from your point of view." She cut him off. He nervously nodded. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, getting himself prepared to explain this story to his mother.
"So.. remember that day when you called me and asked me if I could call Ciera because she wouldn't answer the phone?" Angela nodded.
"Well... that is the day that it happened." He confessed. She wasn't too surprised because she kind of figured that.
She wanted to cuss him out but she held her cool. "Go on." She told him.
"So... I was suppose to call her but I got busy and never did. Instead, she called me and that's when she told me that she had killed him. So when she told me that, I rushed over there and she explained to me how they had agreed to him staying at her house until Khalil gets off the bus and how she didn't really want to be around him.. she told me that when she mentioned about leaving, he tried to fight her. And she grabbed a knife out the kitchen and stabbed him in the chest."
Angela's eyes widened. She knew that Ciera stabbed him but not in the chest.
"Then that's when I came up with a plan to put his body in the car of his trunk and take it to the lake and let it sink." She shook her head.
"Did y'all even talk about contacting the police?" His mother wondered, completely annoyed.
"No, we didn't. I thought about asking her about it and I'm sure she thought about it as well but at that time it seemed like hiding his body and just putting it behind us was the best option.. turns out it wasn't." He recognized.
"You damn right it wasn't. Out of all the things that you and your sister have ever done, I never imagined that this would be one of them." She spoke. He held his head down out of guilt.
He couldn't even look her in the eyes.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you, Dashon." With those words, he lifted his head up and made eye contact.
"Ima get y'all out of this. Okay? Im gonna try and get in contact with your uncle Mark and see can he help us out." She planned. Dashon nodded.
"Have you heard from Ciera?" Dashon curiously asked her. "No. But I know I will be hearing from her soon. I know her. She's only avoiding me right now because she knows that I am mad at her. Im mad at both of y'all actually but y'all are still my babies. And I will fight for the both of you." She made clear.
"Thank you mama. What about Khalil? Have you seen or heard from him?" he asked, genuinely concerned about his nephew.
"Yes, I have. He's with the next door neighbor, Ms. Banks. I suppose to pick him up when I leave here." She informed.
"Okay, good. I was worried about him." He admitted. "Yeah I was too." She looked down thinking about the time where she wondered about her grandson's whereabouts.
She shook the thoughts out of her head.
"Well, Im going to let you talk to your fiancée. I'll be here to see you again next week." She let him know. "Okay mama. I love you and im sorry about all this..." he apologized.
