"L-look," The words have slowly started to roll off of my tongue, but just barely. My voice wavered, and my body shook in fear. "I-I have a logical explanation for this." I don't, though, I shouted to myself in my head, desperately trying to think of a way out of this. I know, I know, it's a terrible thing to do when I'm in the wrong, but can you blame me? This is Trent Boyett, I'm talking about here.

As I felt his gaze on me, his eyes piercing as spears of icicles, I finally came up with an excuse to get away from him. God, that sounds mean. As it dawned on me, I immediately shot my head up to tell my cover-up to him, silently begging for him to spare me, and let me off the hook. But, when I was about to spit out my 'fake' reason, my throat seemed to fog up when I saw his expression.

His pale, yet dark eyes were smiling in a way. They seemed to glister in the dying luminescence from the ceiling above with an unknown grinning emotion. His lips were tugged in to a lopsided smirk as he sent out air through his nose, slightly snickering.

Trent was standing right before me with a face I've never seen before, not even as a toddler. While I became at a loss for words, his head suddenly swivels away to hide his grin as he covers his mouth a bit, but I could still see his unexpected smile through his long, rough fingers.

Trent then clears his throat twice, which causes me to snap out of my trance, and gradually returns back to his scary, stoic expression. There was a breathtaking, awkward silence that affected us both, until Trent decided to move his umbrella closer to me, the act startling me a little. I blinked my eyes, looked up at the umbrella, then slowly moved my gaze back to him.

I asked, "W-what?" I stepped back in surprise, mentally questioning if this was some kind of new attack. As if he read my mind, he knits his eyebrows, then rests his hand on his neck, like he doesn't know what else to do with it. He shuts his eyes as he heaves a sigh, then reopens them up. "The umbrella. Take it." He gruffed harshly, extending the umbrella towards me while easing off his grip for me to grab.

I didn't respond for a while, just furrowed my brows as I revealed a dumbfounded look. I scanned his face for any kind of deception, but I couldn't really tell– Trent really was just hard to read at times. Just as I was about to say something with hesitance, abruptly out of nowhere, my phone then chimes its notification bell, disrupting the long silence we just had, and causing us both to jump to our senses.

I glanced down at my hand, I completely forgot I was holding my phone. The screen had turned black from the automatic timeout. I raised my head up once more to check, and see if Trent was about to pull something, but by the time I looked at him, he pulled back his umbrella while clenching on to it tightly as he settled his gaze on the ground with a blushing face.

Narrowing my eyes, I said, "Sorry, my phone," and slid the phone open as I pressed in my password. The first thing that pops up on the screen was a text from Tweek. I stared at the message unblinkingly. 'Hey, sorry that took so long, that stupid teacher was asking for a lot. I'm on my way towards the entrance! See you there!' Smiley face emoji.

The God above, who has never responded to my cries no matter how many times I had sought out to him, finally answered my prayers for the very first time in a while. Dear, Heavenly Father, thank you, I thought with a tranquil expression resting on my face, looking like I had just pushed out a massive shit. I turned towards Trent immediately once I lifted my gaze, which earned me a sideways glance, then detached my lips as I spoke nervously.

"U-Um, I just remembered... my friend is coming to meet me here." I talked quietly, but loud enough for him to hear. Soon as I spat out those words, the term 'friend' seemed to tick him off just the slightest. The word 'friend' gave the impression of me talking about Stan, and the guys. Luckily, I caught onto his change of behaviour swiftly, his brows quirking down, and eyes darkening was what gave it away. I quickly cleared up the misunderstanding.
