"Can we please just focus on tomorrow?" Barry asked, beginning to grow impatient and pace back and forth.
"How about you take her on a picnic, that's simple enough."
All three turned to see Dr. Harrison Wells roll into the Cortex. He was the one who ran S.T.A.R. Labs and who created the particle accelerator, which failed and ultimately created a lightning bolt that stuck Barry, turning him into the Flash, the same accelerator which put him in a wheelchair for the rest if his life. But he was also a man of many secrets.
"A picnic actually isn't bad. I think she'd really like it," Caitlyn said as he shrugged her shoulders and jotted it down onto the notepad.
"Thanks, Dr. Wells," Barry said, giving a smile of gratitude and finally sat back down across from Caitlyn.
"Anytime, Barry. I think you deserve a little break from your training to beat the Reverse Flash. But after tomorrow, training resumes," Dr. Wells said as he looked at Barry, "Well, it seems that means I get the night off, so I'll be heading home. Don't forget to secure the building when you all leave."
The whirring of the wheels faded away as Dr. Wells left, leaving the three in silence.
"Picnic it is. But where is it and what do I bring?" Barry asked, once again growing frantic.
Close to 7 o'clock, Cisco had ordered several boxes of pizza as Caitlyn and Barry hashed out the date plans. They had formed out what was going to go into the picnic and where it was, relieving Barry of some stress.
"So," Cisco started as he chewed his pizza, "what have we learned so far, Barry?"
"That Natalie doesn't like country music, she has two younger brothers, she's an animal lover, and she doesn't like Mexican food," Barry said proudly as he ate his pizza slice.
"Very good, now the rest you'll have to figure out yourself," Caitlyn said, stretching out to get her own slice of pizza.
"Operation Reed is in its beginning stages," Cisco said as he stuffed his third slice in his mouth.
"Operation Reed?" Barry asked with a small laugh.
Cisco scoffed, "What? I thought we'd give this a name."
Barry and Caitlyn laughed at Cisco and continued to eat their pizza in a comfortable silence until a phone rang.
"Caitlyn it's yours," Cisco said as everyone searched for their phones.
"Hello?" Caitlyn asked, raising the phone to her ear.
"Hey Cait!" Natalie said through the line.
"Oh.. Hey Nattie," Caitlin said, raising the boys' attention.
"Put her on speaker," Cisco whispered.
Caitlyn hesitantly obliged and set the phone on the top of an unopened pizza box, "Anything I can help you with?"
There was silence on the other end for a bit, "Umm..yeah there kind of is. See, Barry and I have a date tomorrow.."
Barry and Cisco immediately leaned towards the phone, eager to hear more.
Caitlyn lightly smacked them, "Oh that's nice."
Natalie took a deep breath before she sped through her words, "I was wondering.. See he's so smart. I don't know, it's kind of intimidating. I feel like I'm not..at his level. And plus its been a long time since I've been on a date. I don't know if I have anything good to wear. And I don't even know where he's taking me! What if I under dress or over dress? Caitlyn, help."
Barry and Cisco both looked at each other in a state of shock, unable to comprehend what just happened.
Caitlyn, obviously, knew how to handle the situation as always, "Honey, breathe. Don't ever think of yourself like that, not enough for someone. You are. And just because you aren't as knowledgable in the same area as Barry does not mean he's smarter than you. He has a big heart, Nat. I hope you'll see that."
"I think I've seen part of it. And thanks, Cait. Shall I let you continue?" Natalie said as she controlled her breaths to calm her nerves.
"As for your clothes.. I'd go simple. And you'll be fine. I'm pretty sure this is the first date Barry's had in a long time too," Caitlyn smirked when she saw Barry give her a second of a hard glare.
"Simple. I can do simple perfectly. Okay. What would I do without you?"
"I have no clue, Nattie. Love you."
"Love you. Bye." Nat said before she hung up.
"I have no idea what I'd do without you either. Both of you," Barry said softly as he pulled Caitlyn and Cisco into a three way hug.
Cisco's words were muffled by Barry's arm, "Well I know Caitlyn and I would be out of our job."
The three broke apart laughing.
"No but seriously. You guys aren't just my doctors or the people who saved me. You're two of my best friends," Barry said as he looked on Caitlyn and Cisco with love in his eyes.
"We're the triple threat of Team Flash," Caitlyn joked.
Barry nodded his head and laughed, yes they were.
