Sofia laughs. "So you guys are an us."
"No," I say way to fast.
Charlie coughs uncomfortably.
"We're just friends," I add. "We're all friends right." The uncomfortable and almost suffocating tension in the air doesn't lesson. When I look at Sofia's face it is more than evident she finds this all so amusing.
"Right," she says, "we're all friends. Right Charlie?"
"Sure," he says and shrugs.
"So what did you guys come here for?" Sofia asks.
"A dress," I say.
"A dress," she repeats. She's having too much fun with this situation I almost regret leaving my house. "What ever for?" she questions.
"Uh an event for hotel that Charlie's parents o-"
"You mean the hotel's anniversary party?" She says with excitement.
I look at Charlie. "I thought you said the party wasn't a big deal."
"It's not," he says in a nonchalant tone.
"Charlie that doesn't sound like nothing. What-"
"Why don't we go find dresses," he says cutting me off and begins walking off.
With a big smile on her face, Sofia links her arm with mine. "This thing between you two is so much more interesting than I thought."
"Nothing is happening between us," I tell her.
"The denial phase," she says, "I respect it but I can't wait for the realization phase."
"Sofia," I whine.
"Come on, we've almost lost him." She says tugging me with her.

"Okay," I say, "What about this one?"
Charlie and Sofia give me unsure looks. I sigh and plop myself down beside them. This is like the sixth dress I've tried on and each time Charlie and Sofia are never sure about it.
"What's wrong with it now?" I question, somewhat annoyed.
"It looks like you're going to your eighth grade graduation," Sofia says.
Charlie takes another look at me then looks at Sofia. "You are so right," he says to her. I groan.
"Guys, I didn't think the dress shopping was going to take this long. Can we just choose one already?"
"Have you tried them all on?" Sofia asks.
"All of them? You gave me like twenty."
"Let's try them all on, we're bound to find the one. Right Charlie?"
"Definitely," he says.
I sigh then get up. "I'm only try on five more max," I tell them.
"Unless we don't find the one," I can hear Sofia whisper to Charlie.
