Even though Ari wasn't insecure about her skills she still didn't think Von would go through all this trouble just for her. So what was she really worried about?
She let out a deep sigh as she leaned back. Ariana was well aware of what she did but she also kept that part of her life away from everything else.
Being a hitwoman was not something she was proud of. She just did it because it was second nature to her.
It was something she didn't have to learn or study at school for. Something she'd been training for since she was 7 years old.
But for some reason openly admitting that that's who she was was difficult for her. Luckily Von encountered that side of her early on so it would be easier to say.
Von's stern glare softened as he watched the girl fiddle with her jacket. It showed that she was nervous.
This was Ari's first time showing the man this kind of emotion. Even when he gunned her down she didn't even flinch. It confused Von to see her genuinely nervous.
"Just tell me whatcu' gotta tell me ma," He said encouraging the girl to speak up. He hated it when people stalled. Von would rather take the news and deal with it than all the unnecessary waiting.
Ariana hesitantly looked up at him and gazed into his brown eyes. She wanted to look away but decided against it wanting to face this problem head-on.
She'd have to deal with any reaction he gave but she still hoped it wouldn't be such a negative one. It's not like she even knew he held her contract.
"That's me," she said as she looked into his eyes. Ariana watched as his brows scrunched together in confusion before rising in realization.
She figured he put it all together in his head. She hoped he wouldn't assume things hastily, as it wouldn't benefit anyone at the moment. Even though Ari herself did the same thing.
Von looked down at the girl next to him. Thoughts ran wild in his head as he thought about what she had admitted.
The Reaper was the woman next to him who could not have been more than 5'2" tall and who had the least intimidating presence.
He definitely downplayed it when he mentioned hearing of the Reaper. Since they'd been active for 3 years, he heard a lot about the fellow hitman.
Mostly comparisons and whatnot but he definitely respected their resumes. He knew the person had single-handedly taken down some big names.
"Damn" was the only thing that left his mouth before he looked away breaking eye contact with the girl. He shifted his attention back to his phone mindlessly scrolling.
Von wasn't sure what to do with that information. He didn't have anything against her, it was just a job he took.
The news just shocked him more than anything, which is why he was speechless.
An awkward silence filled the room, as they both grabbed their things getting off the plane.
Ariana couldn't read Von. She didn't know if he was mad at her, so silence was definitely unsettling.
Relief washed over her as Von reached for her hand, guiding her down the stairs. It was very steep, so he wanted to ensure that the girl kept her balance.
Ari saw this small gesture as proof that he was not mad at her. She smiled as she grabbed hold of his waiting hand and guided her downstairs.
Her face quickly frowned. She realized that she would have been upset if he had felt someway.
