Chapter 20 - Can you out-bully a bully?

"Oh no, I'm so scared." I said in the most over-the-top voice imaginable, "By the way, I'm not sure if you were aware, but I see no floor here."

"Ground, floor, whatever. You are talking way too much."

"What, are you not used to someone being smarter than you? And here I thought you interacted with others a lot. Shame."

"You little, insolent..."

"Stop whining, you said that you are here to fight or what? I'm not impressed yet, come on, hit me." I teased him.

"Oh, you don't have to encourage me more." He rushed toward me and went for the first punch.

I closed my eyes, already imagining Amity being beaten up by Jamie, but when I peeked through my fingers I saw something entirely different. Amity remained untouched while Jamie stood on the other side of the crowd-formed circle, completely flabbergasted. What happened next felt like an action movie scene, a fight between John Wick and some random thug, though less brutal. Jamie was blindly swinging his arms, while Ami dodged everything without any sign of tiredness. After a few minutes, it became hilarious and most people in the crowd were laughing. Our cocky champion was panting like he ran a marathon, but still tried his best to land at least one hit. Finally, Amity asked the crowd;

"Shall we finish or do you want to see more?"

Unanimously people started screaming 'Finish him'. Amity shrugged her shoulders and responded, "Whatever suits you."

Meanwhile, Jamie wasn't about to give up, he managed to take a deeper breath and said;

"There is no way I'm losing to a girl." He took an inrun and with what seemed to be all his strength tried to hit Amity with some kind of dropkick. For the last time, she effortlessly moved out of his way and Jamie proceeded to fall on the ground, face first. A loud crack was heard and the crowd made an 'uuuuuuuu' sound. When he got up everyone saw his nose, covered in blood, likely broken. I think at this point he had enough of it. If it wasn't already enough Amity teased him further.

"Were you saying anything about my ears? I think you have a bigger facial issue than me now. 45 degrees skew issue."

That broke Jamie, he started crying and ran away. I had no idea he was even capable of crying, but I didn't feel sorry for him. I made sure to scan the crowd and check whether someone was recording the fight and luckily I found a few people. Before everyone processed what happened I managed to get a video of the fight sent to me, it might come in handy if anything happens, and knowing Jamie, something will happen.

People started to leave considering there was no more fighting to watch, and I made my way to Amity. When she saw me she ran toward me and I intercepted her with a hug.

"Ami, that was amazing."

"See, I told you I will handle this, I didn't even have to touch him."

"Sorry I doubted you."

"Nah, don't worry, what's important is that Jamie won't bother you anymore, and if he does, let me know."

"Sure thing, shall we go home now? I don't think staying here longer is necessary."

"Fine with me Luz, honestly I'm not the biggest fan of the amount of attention I'm receiving right now, let's go."

It was time to go home, we will be there earlier than I expected. I thought this whole thing here will take much longer but Jamie wasn't a challenge. I even started to feel a bit better than during the day, maybe I should try to be a bit more positive. As much as I hated school, with Amity by my side it was bearable.

We were home right after 5 pm, my mom was still preparing dinner since I told her we will be home past 6. I helped her with the preparation, while Amity went upstairs to take a shower. Mom was asking me about the school, and for the first time in years, I was answering the question with a dose of enthusiasm, though I made sure not to mention anything Jamie-related. I was surprised that my mood was that good, but it's all thanks to Amity.

After the dinner, we went to my room to do homework. Even though it was a little annoying that we got homework after the first day I did the questions with a smile on my face. Not only was I in a good mood after today, I looked forward to tomorrow's day at school, hopefully for once I won't have to worry about being bullied. I wish I could repay Amity for what she did for me.

After our homework was done the rest of the evening remained uneventful. We watched two episodes of Monster Slayer Academia and then decided to head to sleep. We had school tomorrow and that meant waking up in the morning... Ugh, I wish school started at 12pm so I could sleep longer.

Getting through the morning was as hard as it usually is for me, I got myself a coffee but it didn't really help. Unfortunately, today we had to take the school bus since mom had to go to work and it wouldn't be convenient for her to drive us. When we entered the bus I was worried that people will start to question why I'm living together with Amity but instead, they looked only at Ami, mesmerized by her presence. She made quite an impression during her first day. Humiliating Jamie, one of the most popular guys in school, in front of everyone. It was a power move, and Amity was aware of that. We took two seats at the back and I went for a quick nap on the bus, knowing that I have someone that will wake me up when we reach school.

When we entered the building life in the hallways stopped for a second. People started to form a circle around us, treating us a bit like celebrities, asking questions, some girls even wanted an autograph from Amity. It felt weird, extremely weird and I wasn't ready for this. However, as with everything that is good, it ended quickly. This time thanks to the lady talking through the intercom.

"Amity Blight and Luz Noceda, please report to the principal's office immediately."

Chapter 20 is done, I hope you enjoyed it. Even though there is more potential for action on the Boiling Isles doesn't mean that the human realm storyline has to be uneventful. For obvious reasons Luz's and Amity's story will tackle smaller problems scale-wise but just as important as saving the world.
