Chapter 34- The Wrath of Molly Weasley

Harry swiftly responded and said, "I'll help. I've never seen de-gnoming before."

"Me too Mrs. Weasley," I said. "I've seen the twins do it but they were all done before I got to help. This time, let me—"

"That's very sweet of you dears, but it's quite dull work," she replied. "Now, let's see what Gilderoy Lockhart's got to say on the subject—"

She pulled a heavy book from the mantle. I accidentally let out a loud annoyed scoff at the mention of Gilderoy Lockhart. Mrs. Weasley turned to me and said, "What's that matter dear? Do you not like Lockhart?"

I quickly said, "No, not really. I've, uh, met him before. I would describe him as very...self-centered and he seems to not credit others. I will admit he does look a bit charming, but that's really all there is to him."

I heard Fredwhisper to George, "Find me a way to look exactly like Lockhart."

I stared in disgust at the photograph of Gilderoy Lockhart winking on the front of Molly's book. She beamed down at him and I had to stop myself from telling her he wasn't worth it and listing everything he would do in the future.

"Oh, he is marvelous," she said. "He knows his household pests, all right, it's a wonderful book..."

"Mum fancies him," Fred said in a not-so-quiet whisper.

"Don't be ridiculous, Fred," Mrs. Weasley replied, her cheeks seeming very pink. "All right, if you think you know better than Lockhart, you can go and get on with it, and woe betide you if there's a single gnome in that garden when I come out to inspect it."

As we walked out to the garden I looked at Fred and George and said, "Are you guys going to trick me again or actually teach me how to gnome this time?"

Fred grinned and said, "What do you mean trick you? We would never."
George replied to my actual question and said, "Yeah, we'll teach you. Actually, just watch Ron, he's demonstrating to Harry right now."

I walked over next to Harry as Ron grabbed a gnome by the ankles and said, "This is what you have to do." He began to swing it in a circle, much like a lasso. I looked at Harry and saw that he was shocked and Ron must've seen it to as he added, "It doesn't hurt them— you've just gotta make them really dizzy so they can't find their way back to the gnomeholes."

Ron let go of the gnome's ankles and it flew about twenty feet in the air and then landed in the field over the hedge with a loud thud.

Fred walked over and cockily said, "Pitiful attempt little brother. I bet I can get mine beyond that stump."

Harry tried to show the gnomes no more sympathy as he grabbed a gnome. But, the gnome he grabbed sensed his weakness and sank its razor-sharp teeth into Harry's finger. I watched him struggle to get it off until he finally flung it and it went soaring through the air.

"Wow, Harry— that must've been fifty feet..." George said in amazement.

Fred turned and looked at me. "Well, are you ready y/n? Or do you feel too bad for the gnomes?" He asked. All the boys' heads turned towards me as they awaited my decision.

I grinned and without saying a word I grabbed a gnome, swung it like Wonder Woman, and then released it. The gnome went flying through the air and flew twice as far as Harry's had. I looked at the boys, who were staring at me with mouths agape, and I said, "No remorse."

The air soon became thick with flying gnomes and we all competed to see who could throw the farthest. I eventually won and as the last gnome was thrown we heard the front door slam.

"He's back!" George said. "Dad's home!"

We all hurried through the garden and back into the house.

Mr. Weasley was slumped in a kitchen chair and his glasses drooped halfway off his closed eyes. He was wearing long green robes, which were dusty and travel-worn.
