The restaurant Alastor chose for Charlie was one of the most popular and romantic spots in town. The dimly lit, medium-sized room featured red-oak flooring, an intricately designed tin ceiling, and a fireplace that cast an enchanting glow. They were seated in a cozy corner by the window, where the music played at just the right volume—not too quiet to be unnoticed, yet not so loud as to disrupt their conversation.

"It's lovely here." Charlie remarked, admiring the decor.

"Indeed." Alastor replied, nervously drumming his fingers on the table. "Classy yet subtle."

"Have you been here before?"

"No, but Angel has, and he recommended it to me. Let's hope it's one of those rare good recommendations."

A waiter approached to take their drink orders. As if on cue, both Charlie and Alastor reached for their menus and scanned them quickly.

"Everything looks delicious." Charlie said. "What are you in the mood for tonight?"

"Oh, um... I'm not sure." He tried to still his fidgeting fingers. "I think I might try the stuffed crab. What about you?"

"Well, I've always wanted to try that steak everyone raves about."

"Splendid choice."

Feeling his mouth go dry, Alastor took a quick sip of water.

"Is something wrong, Alastor?" Charlie asked, her brow furrowing. "You seem a bit flustered."

"Oh, don't worry about me, my dear. I'm as fit as a fiddle."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

She raised an eyebrow at him.

"What?"

"You have your elbow in your water." She pointed out.

Alastor blushed, finally noticing his elbow resting in his glass.

"Oh! Silly me!" He chuckled, lifting his arm. "I suppose I am a little distracted."

"By everything that's happened recently?"

"Something like that."

"You're worried about Angel, aren't you?"

"Kind of." It was a half-truth. "Angel's always been resilient, but since Vaggie's accident, I haven't seen him this upset in a long time."

"Do you want to give him a call? Just to check in?"

"No. I'm sure he'll be alright in the end."

"Would you mind if I called him? I just want to make sure Vaggie is okay."

"Of course. I saw a pay phone just down the hall."

He handed her a few quarters, and she went to make the call. To her relief, Vaggie was awake and able to chat for a few minutes. She reassured Charlie that she was checking out as they spoke and urged her not to worry and to enjoy herself. With that reassurance, Charlie returned to the table feeling completely relieved. The waiter arrived just as she took her seat, and the couple ordered their food. Dinner was marvelous; Charlie savored every bite. After Alastor paid the bill, they headed to the local theater to watch a show.

They attended the ballet 'Giselle', a tragic tale of an innocent peasant girl who falls in love with a nobleman. His deception leads to her death, and he desperately searches for her spirit. Ghosts of heartbroken maidens, betrayed by their lovers, appear to torment him, forcing him to dance until he collapses from exhaustion. Yet, the spirit of his love comes to save him and forgive him, allowing her soul to find peace. Watching the ballet was a new experience for Charlie. She marveled at how a story could be told through music and dance without a single word spoken. She felt grateful for the opportunity to witness such artistry.
