Chapter 38: The Negative Ten (Rewritten)

Max and Y/n sighed and shook their heads in disbelieve while Cooper watched in bewilderment. Y/n then picked Cooper's luggage and guided him to the back.

"Don't mind those two." Y/n placed the bag on the bed. "They're always like that."

"If you say so."

"Now." Y/n brought out his journal and opened a few pages. "Where do you want to start?"

The trip continued with Y/n storytelling his adventure from the summer and Cooper telling him his talent in electronics. Cooper is impressed with Y/n's researches about the aliens and villains that he encountered and his creativity on using his predators' ability in a fight.

"Are those guys going to be okay?"

Cooper is implying the cousins sulking by the dining table while sitting at the opposite directions.

"They'll be fine." Y/n shrugged. "Though, if you have an idea to stop them, be my guess."

Cooper held his chin in thinking manner before smiling with a nod. Y/n watched the blonde boy approached the cousins, and they shot him a glare.

"I know it's kinda too late but, I have an extra ticket to the premiere."

"What?!" The cousins jolted up.

"My uncle worked on the movie. He got me two VIP tickets. One of you could go with me if you want."

Y/n blinked in confusion, wondering Cooper's intention. The blond boy quietly turned his gaze to the Nemetrix's wielder before winking at him. Y/n perked up in a realization and covered his smirk of mischief with his palm

"Kids, take a look at this." Max called.

They went to the front to see a monitor screen on the cupholder. The monitor showed a security footage from Fort Knox, an army base located in Kentucky. It is well known for being the location of the United States Bullion Depository.

In the footage, the Circus Freaks entered through a melted vault door to the depository safe before Acidbreath destroyed the camera with his distinctive and disgusting ability.

"Are those the Circus Freaks?" Cooper asked.

"Yeah, and here I am wondering how did they escaped." Y/n commented.

The team took a detour toward Fort Knox but, the place is quiet with no security guards around.

"Maybe Cooper should stay here." Max advised.

"I'll keep an eye on him, grandpa." Ben suggested. "He probably wants to see the Omnitrix in action anyway."

"Nope." Y/n interjected. "We never involving civilians, and we're not doing it now just because you wanted to show off to get that stupid ticket."

"That's okay, Y/n. I'm quite tough." Cooper said.

Y/n and Max shared a glance, and the later could only shrug in response.

The team exited the vehicle and made their inside the facility and just like outside, everything is quiet with no guards to be found. They went inside the storage house, and Y/n began to sniff the air.

"Yup, the Freaks were here, alright." He groaned while holding his nose. "And surprisingly, Sublimino, too."

"Sublimino?" Ben gasped. "Since when they're teaming up?"

"Probably when they're in jail." Gwen remarked.

They ventured deeper into the storage house and to confirm Y/n's claim about Sublimino, two armored guards are found acting like a chicken around the the corner of a shipment box.
