?77- WHAT DID I MISS?

Start from the beginning

"Amelia, you coming?" Pepper asked.

"I... Yeah.. I want to." I said and looked at her. "I'm..."

Morgan came back over to me. "Daddy holds my hand when I'm scared." She reached for my hand.

I hold hers. "Thank you."

We walked into the house, it smelled sweet and looked nice and comfortable. I smiled at Pepper and continued to look at the pictures and decorations around the house, seeing the framed picture of Peter with dad as he was giving him the internship. Dad pulled me in and wrapped his arm around me like he was proud of both of us. I wish I enjoyed it more at the time.
I continued to follow Morgan around. There were a few toys scattered around but it was still home-y.

"Daddy gave you a room." Morgan says. "Mommy helped him decorate it. Come on!"

She pulled me up the stairs and I smiled at her, I looked back to see Pepper and Happy following us. Morgan stopped at the door at the end of the hall and smiled at me.

"Go on." She whispers. "Open it."

I opened the door to my room, it was a peach color and had dark wooden flooring. All my furniture from before had been moved here. I smiled at all the plants that filled the room, I looked at Morgan who smiled proudly.

"I helped mommy and daddy water them." She says.

"You did an amazing job." I told her with a smile.

I walked in further and looked at my picture wall, my eyes scanned it, stopping at the pictures of me and dad. My favorite was one that Pepper took, we didn't know she did, we were talking about something that interested the both of us. We were smiling at each other and eating burgers. There were also pictures of me and Pepper, the three of us as a family, some with the team and them individually, some with my friends, a few with Peter.
I looked at the bed to see the doll of me that dad got me for our first Christmas together. I chuckled and picked it up grateful I kept it even though I hated him so much that day.

"How about we let, Meli, get settled." Pepper picked up Morgan.

"Thank you." I say and the door closes behind her.

I teared up again and got into bed, curling up as I silently started to cry. I knew I still had Pepper and now Morgan but I didn't have dad anymore.

I stayed in my room for a few hours, crying and just letting myself feel sad and angry with dad. I told him I was fine and I had people but I was still upset, he really was my hero.

I heard a knock, by then I was already sitting up, watching videos of me and dad, mainly dad while I was being annoying in the background or him doing it while I was doing homework.

"Come in." I say. I look at Pepper walking in. "Hi, did you tell Morgan?"
She nodded and came to sit next to me. I looked at her. "How did it go?"

"Terrible." She said. "It was so hard to tell her that her daddy wouldn't be coming home and why..."

I hugged her as she started crying. I could only imagine how hard that would have been. Neither of us spoke for that time, I just comforted her as best as I could.
When Pepper finished crying, she ended up falling asleep on my bed, not that it bothered me. In fact it was nice that she was asleep.

I slipped out of my room and closed the door behind me, trying to be quiet. Morgan came out of her own room rubbing her eyes. I looked at her and walked over.

"Hey.." I crouched down. "Uh... Pep— mom's sleeping so... Are you hungry?"

"A little." She says and I nod taking her downstairs.

I got her a snack and we sat on the couch, watching some show on the tv.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Ye-" She looked up at me and I shook my head.

"I will be." I nod assuringly. "It's just sad and scary... everything I've been through. But one day I will be okay. Especially because I have you and Pepper still here."

"Good." She leans against me. "Mommy and Daddy missed you a lot when you were gone. They let me in your room and I liked sleeping in your bed."

"So that's why it has a small dented." I smiled and hugged her. "Now my bed smells like strawberries and marshmallows. I kinda like it."

She looked at me and we both smiled. "I'm happy I have a sister."

"Yeah?" I asked and she nodded. "I'm gonna protect you with my whole life, kid."
Morgan smiled and snuggled into my arm. "I promise."

"Kay."

She took me around the house, giving me a tour of the whole place, asking if I liked any of it, which I did but I also pointed out all the things I didn't really like and she would explain them to me and why she liked it until I liked it too. We had fun and she even took me outside to see the tent she played in.
Dinner was great too and we talked a lot about dad. The two of us were happy with the stories we told each other, because the time we had with him were completely different. I admit I was happy that she got the better dad, while I was stuck with the one who had to learn everything.

She slept in my room with me that night, which I was fine with because I didn't want to be alone, before I was surrounded by Pepper and the Avengers who were helping us with the Compound clean up.

I couldn't fall asleep and decided to text Jade and Theo but neither of them texted back.. I wondered if they had blipped, I hadn't even checked. I went on their social medias and saw that they had graduated high school, Theo got into MIT while Jade had gone to Harvard, they had jobs, and Theo had a girlfriend.

Of course it would be my luck that they wouldn't have blipped like me. My best friends got to move on with their lives. I closed my eyes, thinking about the five years.

No friends, new home, no dad, Nat's gone, Vision's gone as well, no Avengers, no compound, a sister, and who knows what else.
