Chapter 09: Home Alone, With Kevin Tran

Start from the beginning

Kevin was a 'Prophet of the Lord' who had been named as such even before he was born. And as a Prophet, he was given a gift that allowed him to read the 'Word of God'. Just something new you had to read up on. He had had his fare share of run ins with angels, demons, monsters called Leviathans, and he told you all about them. His story was fascinating to you. At least he knew what his purpose was in this supernatural world.

You were also told that Sam and Dean, for the most part, usually got on well. As best as adult siblings could anyways. It sounded like their relationship with each other was actually very tight. Minus the fact they continually held secrets from each other.  Big secrets. Sam had once been addicted to demon blood, and had kept it from Dean. They had both gone to hell, but Sam had returned without a soul. Oh and recently, Dean had tricked Sam into agreeing to house an angel in his body. And he kept it a secret for months. Gadreel, you had heard the brothers discussing that name once before, was the one responsible for Kevin's death. He had long gone though, Kevin assured you.

Your phone pinged, interrupting your conversation and a notification popped up on the touch screen. You opened it up to find a text from Dean.

- Just arrived. Play nice with Kevin. -

There was a wink emoji at the end of the last message. Smart arse you groaned and decided not to respond, leaving him on read.

"Sorry." You apologised to Kevin for the distraction.

"Nah. It's all good... Do you hear from them a lot?... When they're gone like this." Kevin asked you curiously.

"Um. Yeah. Mostly Dean checking in to make sure I'm still alive." Bad form... But Kevin didn't flinch at your mishap.

"What about Sam? Does he text you too?" He asked as he stared at you curiously.

"Um. Sometimes. But mostly Dean. I guess... I was his case first." You chuckled lightly at that last comment.

Kevin eventually left you to get some sleep, assuring you he would try not to startle you in the morning. Which you really appreciated. And when you emerged from your room the next day, a little more at ease, you felt more comfortable moving around the bunker as normal.

You casually made yourself breakfast, cereal with coffee from the coffee machine and you sat at the mess room table to consume it, assuming at any second Kevin would make his appearance. But he never did.

After cleaning up your dishes from breakfast and the night before, you made your way to the library to hit the books again. And there waiting for you at your nominated space of the middle table, Kevin stood there waiting for you. The overused manila folder that contained all the information of your case, lay open in front of him.

"Good morning." He greeted you. "I hope you don't mind." He finished as he motioned to the open file on the table.

"Um. No, it's okay... Morning." You managed to greet back.

Kevin was looking at you up and down, studying you as you moved over to take the seat next to him. He picked up the photos of the cuts to your body and shuffled them trying to find a particular one.

"So as you know, I can read the word of god. And well I took a look at these... And well, I can read these Enochian cuts on your, um, body..." Kevin explained. "They're a bit jumbled, and individually they don't make a lot of sense... But I can tell you what each one means...."
