Athena got up from the table with a, "I'm going to go grab drinks since you two got distracted," and headed over towards the bar, though Hen is to busy with her wife to pay her much mind.
"See you in a bit!" Karen calls, waving to the rest of the table as she heads over in the direction that Chim and Hen point her in.
"You two really are a power couple." Maddie says, looking after Karen admiringly, definitely past tipsy territory if the number of empty glasses in front of her was anything to go by, "Let me know if you ever want a third."
Chim chokes on his drink, "What?!" He exclaimed.
"There's just something about women, you know!" Maddie continues, sighing dreamily before turning to Chim, "Obviously I wouldn't actually do anything with anyone else, because I love you and you're my person. Girls are pretty though."
"Yeah, they are." Chim agreed, nodding softly, though he only had eyes for Maddie. Heart eyes, to be specific.
It was disgustingly lovey-dovey, and Hen would absolutely be pinching Chim's ear for it if she wasn't also staring dreamily after her incredibly hot and incredibly competent wife who was flirting with another girl for their investigation. She looked so good doing it that Hen honestly forgot to feel jealous about it.
"Ok, you three! Stop it with the mushy stuff or else you aren't getting any of these drinks!" Athena announced as she returned to the table with a tray full of drinks.
"We're done!" They all promised, grabbing their drinks off the tray and taking their first sips.
This drink was definitely going to push her over into solidly tipsy territory, and if it weren't for the investigation, she'd have happily kept drinking until she was past tipsy and into drunk. The investigation was here though, so she decided that this would be her last drink for the night unless Karen came back with nothing. She doubted that though, if there was any information to find then Karen would find it. So she was cut off after this so she wouldn't forget anything they found out.
"Alright, fill me in on this sketchy therapist situation." Athena said, looking around at the three of them, "Does this have to do with what's been going on with my husband and Buck?"
"That depends, what has Bobby told you?" Hen asked, and so Athena filled them in.
Basically, what Athena knew, was that Bobby and Buck's relationship at the moment was rocky at best, which was generally obvious to anyone with eyes. She also knew that they'd been mandated to attend therapy and that Buck hadn't wanted to and had also been staying at the therapist's office for all of their sessions instead of just their own. Also that her and Chim had now been joining him which Athena was very curious to hear their side on.
"Ok. So basically yes, to all of that, except it isn't just that Buck doesn't want to go to therapy." Chim explains, "I mean, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to go generally, but he really doesn't want to go see the therapist we were all assigned. He said he didn't trust her, and he didn't think anyone should go see her. Except he didn't phrase it super well, so Bobby thought he was being sexist and now it's all a mess. Also Bobby and Buck won't talk to each other, but you already know that."
"Wait, so why doesn't Buck trust the therapist?" Athena asked, processing all that information fairly quickly.
"That's the mystery. He won't tell us." Maddie informs her, "He won't even tell me. Just said that he had it handled and I didn't need to worry about him or Chimney."
"Why would you be worried about Chimney?"
"That's why we think she did something really bad, or hurt someone really bad, because he isn't just uncomfortable being around her. He's actively worried about all of us being around her." Hen explained earnestly, it felt important that Athena knew this, "You should see him when we're at her office, he's in full guard dog mode, 'Thena."
"Ok, listen, as a police sergeant, I have to ask." Athena sighed, like she didn't want to ask her next question, "I know you all want to trust Buck, and I do too, but how are you so certain that she actually did anything wrong?"
"She's basically already admitted it!" Chim exclaimed, startling Athena a bit with his lack of volume control, "She's been letting us stand right outside her office window for every session, she lets Buck play computer games and neither of them say a word during his sessions - don't tell Bobby that please -, they both act like they absolutely despise each other, and she sends him all of our therapy schedules in advance so he can always be there."
"Pretty much none of that is allowed." Athena points out.
"We know!" Hen exclaims, and they all nod.
"So why is she letting all of that happen?" Athena questioned, an investigative spark in her eye that let Hen know that they could officially add her to the investigation.
"I mean, Buck basically admitted to me that he was blackmailing her into it." Hen shrugged.
"With what, though?"
"We think it's something that happened in a session between the two of them a couple years ago." Chim explained, "Bobby mandated he go to one before he get cleared for duty after he had his first loss on the job. She was the therapist he saw. There were no complaints on file though, and it was only the one session."
"Did you two break into my husband's work laptop to get that info?" Athena raised an eyebrow at them and they both blanched.
"Anyways!" Maddie said, clearing her throat in an attempt to take the heat off of them, "When was that session again?"
"Oh, it was a little bit after you and him made a truce actually. When you guys found that little girl at the house break in." Hen jumps on it, "We've got a whole timeline mapped out in Karen and I's living room if you want to see it actually."
"Maybe later, your wife is coming back right now though, so let's hear what she has to say first." Athena points, and when Hen turns she sees Karen beelining over to them.
She looks kind of queasy actually, like she might throw up. She quickly moves to meet her, steadying her by gripping her arms and looking her in the eyes.
"Hey, did you have too much to drink?" She asks, though she didn't remember Karen drinking that much, "Are you going to be sick?"
"No, no! Im fine!" Karen shook her head, pushing towards the table and announcing, "We need to go. Now. We need to leave right now."
"What?" "Huh?" "Did something happen?" Came the flurry of questions, though everyone was getting up and grabbing their stuff.
Hen knew that voice from Karen, it meant that they needed to listen to her. So they quickly settled their tabs and made their way out of the bar. Karen tapping on her phone quickly.
"What are you doing?" Hen asked, looking over her wife's shoulder to see the Uber homepage.
"Im ordering us all an Uber." Karen announced, "None of us are good to drive and we need to go over to Buck's."
"To Buck's? Why are we going- Oh." Chim realized, and Karen turned to look at all of them, seemingly done with ordering their Uber.
"Yeah. I solved the mystery of the sketchy therapist." Karen confirmed, "And Buck specifically asked that if we figure it out to tell him. So we're going to go tell him."
Hen didn't dare celebrate like she normally would at having solved another mystery. Not when her wife's expression was that grim. Whatever she was about to find out had happened with that therapist was going to be bad.
