Chapter 25 - When the Denial Ends

Zuli: "Please... Please don't take him awaayyy!"

All I could do was lay there and sob myself into unconsciousness. The servants must have come looking for us because they were the ones who found me on the pier sometime after I passed out.

Bard: "Oh no..."

Finni: "ZULI!!"

They ran to me fretting, Finni holding my limp body up.

Finni: "Zuli... Zuli, no..."

Mey-Rin checked my pulse.

Mey-Rin: "She's alive."

Bard: "Thank goodness..."

Finni was fretting too much to listen. He refused to let go as he hyperventilated with tears streaming down his face.

Finni: "How could I let this happen... Zuli!"

Mey-Rin: "Finni... Finni, look at me."

She lifted his chin up to gain his attention.

Mey-Rin: "She's still breathing. You haven't lost her. Do you hear me?"

He shakily nodded.

Bard: "Too many close calls today... Come on, lad, we need to get her someplace safe-"

I coughed, startling them.

Mey-Rin: "Miss Zuli?"

I was shaking and I started crying too.

Bard: "It's okay, Miss. It's us, you're safe."

I desperately grabbed Finni's arm with my uninjured hand.

Zuli: "Ciel... Find him *sob* Please..."

Finni: "The master... wh-where is he?"

Zuli: "S-Se... taken..."

I drifted back into unconsciousness, tears streaming from my eyes.

Finni: "Zuli... Wh-what do we do?"

Mey-Rin: "What does she mean the master was taken?"

Bard: "Sebastian's gone too. What the hell's going on?!"

They were panicking while trying to think logically, not a good combination.

Finni: "We have to... get Zuli and everyone to safety... R-right?"

Bard: "Well let's look at our situation... The manor is gone, LONDON is GONE! The master and Sebastian are missing, Miss Zuli's injured and unconscious, Pluto's naked and out cold too, Tanaka's who the bloody hell knows where, and we've got a baby! So I beseech you! Where do we go?!"

Finni: "I... don't know..."

They sat in desperate and nervous thought until Mey-Rin remembered something.

Mey-Rin: "I know the perfect place! Follow me!"

They walked as she told them about where they were going.

Mey-Rin: "... Back before I was hired by Sebastian... I had my own home. Well... back then I saw it more as a base of operations... but it's safe, and out of the way. I kept all kinds of medical supplies there too."

Finni: "That's incredible, Mey-Rin, it's just what we need!"

Mey-Rin: "I'm certain no one's lived there since, so it'll be empty too."
