Chapter 17 : Spot the Difference

Start from the beginning

Wally was silent again taking in Frank's words, His hands remained behind his back, staring down at the ground with an blank expression. He looked back up at Frank once he finished his rant and cocked his head to the side with an raised eyebrow.

"Is that all..?"

His statement got all of our eyes to go wide at how nonchalant he was. He was always so apologetic and understanding of people's emotions. It was as if Frank's words went into one ear and out the other. I walked up to him and took a hold of one of his hands into mine, using my other free hand to cup the side of his cheek. I looked at him with nothing but concern and worry, wondering if he could possibly be sick from something.

"Wally.. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, my dear." He took both my hands off him, but not in an negative way but more of an calmer attitude. He pats my shoulder once or twice and turns his attention to the others, Frank who still remained pissed with his arms crossed at how he was acting.

"So, what is everyone's plans for today? Julie, any jump-roping? Frank, butterfly catching? Eddie, any help with mail..?"

He was spitting questions back and forth at people, making each other glance at one other in confusion. I shook my head and walked over to Wally, placing one of my hands on his shoulder and leaning over.

"Hey, why don't we go to your art room and paint for an while? How's that sound, just the two of us!" I smiled brightly in hopes of lighting up the awkward and tension in the air. He looks at me with an surprised expression that I wanted to paint, and smiled as well at the idea.

"Why, that sounds like an good idea.. Let's go."

I guided Wally off with me, taking one last look over my shoulder at the others. They all stared off at us with an concerned look on their faces, meanwhile Frank was still glaring at Wally with an skull piercing gaze. I lead Wally over to Home listening to him ramble on about random things that I wasn't even focusing on. We finally approached up to Home and looked up to the house that had no eyes or blinds.

Wait.. No eyes? I raised an eyebrow and turned to Wally.

"Honey, does Home's eyes usually.. Disappear like that?"

Wally let out an small hum and turned his attention up to the house as well, seeing what I was seeing. His smiled an little more looking back down at me.

"Ah, Home does have an tendency to do that.. It's no big deal at all."

He waved it off with a smile. I still felt a bit on edge about the whole thought of his eyes being gone, having grown used to the House's eyes over the years. And just the way he said it, he sounded hesitant about it. As if it wasn't normal or true at all
I didn't wanna ask questions or bug him any further about it, so I just brushed it behind me and went with Wally inside the house to hopefully spend some time with him.

Once we entered the home I felt him stop moving, causing me to let go of his hand. I was confused on why he stopped so I turned around to look and saw he was just standing there, moving his head around and examining the house, as if he just got it.

"Wally..?"

"Hm.?"

"What are you doing sweetie..?"

"Oh, just...taking in the atmosphere."

Even after hearing him say that, I remained an bit on edge. I forced an small smile and gestured my head for him to follow after me. He does as he's instructed and followed me towards the art room. Opening the door to the room, I was immediately hit with the memories of a few nights ago when we had our fight. It wasn't to long ago, but it still felt like an burden on my shoulders especially with what I told him that night. I figured now would be the best time to apologize.
