,,Wrong Question. It's the one thing I must not speak of, even to you.'' Moreau answered and looked for something in the cabinet. ,,Forget that. Look at this!'' We all clearly felt a shiver down our spines when we saw the container in which two eyes were swimming. ,,Freshly harvested vampire eyeballs! Before they died and turned to dust, I carved off the parts I need for my experiments.'' Suddenly, this crazy doctor leaned very close to Vanitas. ,,What's this?! Number 69? Have your eyes not changed color? Yes, they have! Where once they were deep blue, they're now light in color, like copper sulfate. Is this related to the power possessed by the Vampire of the Blue Moon? Well, Number 69?! How intriguing. Do you mind if I gouge out just one to study?!'' He was just about to reach for Vanitas when his gaze fell on me and I got nervous. ,,Ho? Green Eyes with a faint bluish glow and long white-bluish hair... Could it be....'' Suddenly Moreau stood in front of me and seemed to examine me. ,,Are you a vampire of the blue moon!? Perfect, maybe I should take one of your eyes and examine it or take a blood sample.'' the doctor thought aloud and now wanted to reach for me. My whole body froze and I could not move. I had not felt so much fear in a long time. Distantly, I could feel someone taking my right hand and squeezing it.

Before Moreau could touch me, Noé grabbed his wrist. ,,Noé...'' I murmured. ,,What do you think you're doing? Don't do this.'' said Vanitas. ,,Sorry, but I must. Doctor Moreau, there is much I'd like to say to you, but that incessant 69, 69... Stop referring to people as numbers!'' Noé said upset and with a twist made Moreau hit the table. ,,Your eyes are red. You're a vampire too?!'' The commotion caused Moreau's subordinates to attack us, which Roland immediately repulsed. ,,I must thank you, Noé. I was about to murder that man if you hadn't made a move!'' Vanitas suddenly hit the table which made me flinch. ,,Drat! Noé, keep a firm grip on him!'' ,,Oh, um, sure!'' I watched as Vanitas walked up to Moreau and suddenly held his knife right under his nose. ,,Doctor Moreau, who is that ''exalted personage'' you spoke of?!'' ,,Number 69, 69! Who is this vampire?! Where did he come from?! May I dissect him?!'' Vanitas pressed his knife closer to the doctor's nose. ,,Youch! No! I can't believe this! Stop!'' 

Suddenly I felt, as I did with this Veronica, a presence that came rapidly from above. ,,Vanitas!'' I said and quickly pulled him back, while Noé defended the attacker. Wait, this guy, who now had Moreau under his arm, was also at the ball. ,,You're....!'' ,,Monsieur Spider! Thank you for saving me!'' ,,That does it, Doctor. I'm destroying your laboratory.'' ,,No!'' A rumbling drew our attention to his metal door, which was rattled. ,,Oh dear, it seems my little friend woke up.'' Moreau said. This does not seem to be good. ,,Is that the curse-bearer Dante and company were after?! It manifested already?!'' asked Noé. ,,I don't think the door will hold much longer," I pointed out. ,,Not so fast!'' Vanitas yelled. When I turned around I saw that Vanitas was chasing Moreau. ,,Oh, before I forget, 69, how is Number 71 doing? You know, the one that was so attached to you? the Vampire of the Blue Moon took my 71 from me along with you! Is he not here with you?'' 

Vanitas dropped his book. ,,Vanitas?" I asked, confused, when he didn't move. Noé seemed to notice Vanitas behavior as well. ,,Vanitas! What is it? Are you all right?! Get a grip!'' said Noé and pulled him up. When Vanitas looked up at us, he looked completely lost. I didn't have time to think any longer, because the metal door was broken open and flew directly in our direction. ,,Rose Wall!" I said and stopped the flying door. From the now open door came a kind of huge shadow. ,,What is... that?'' asked Noé. Luckily my Rose wall was still active when this shadow started attacking and grabbing the people who were not behind my Roses. The burning of my hand also came back. Damn it, not now, please! ,,Stand back if you won't help. Athy stay with him!'' said Noé. ,,Eh, yes....'' I nodded. ,,What!? You stand back, you fool!'' ,,At least tell me what the devil that thing is!'' ,,It is the malnomen Prédateur, ''the shadow.'' It ravenously devours all life in its path. Inverse operations won't have any effect on it! We must get the curse-bearer out of there! Noé!'' Vanitas explained. ,,How?!''
